how do you type?

like where do you put your fingers, are there any other ways that are faster then the normal like “asdf” for the left hand and “;lkj” for the right hand?
where do you put your fingers?
i know some of you tech people can give me websites to other ways, so where are they?

Heh, I don’t use that retarded “home keys” crap they tried to shovel down your throats at school. I only use my two pointer fingers to type, and I’m still fairly fast.

Yeah I don’t use the home keys thing either, but I do use most of my fingers… I can sorta do it without looking.

you do not, you liar
I’ve seen you type, you use almost all your fingers
I do what you do Forrest

I don’t put my fingers any specific place usually, they’re just hovering above the board, but I use almost all of my fingers. and I am quite fast, if I do say so myself.

are you FOR REAL?

i type 85 wpm and i use the same method as dude… but i some times use james’ hover method… btw my 85 wpm is with proper spellings and punctuation the stuff i post here and in chat rooms is like 100 wpm at least.

How does that rate change when you use an equation editor?

Podzol, you’ve lost me again

whats that?

yeah…whats an equation editor

Well, I doubt it has to do with soil

theres equations about soil though

Dirt+water=mud

I can’t believe any of you suckas are claimin’ 100 WPM with the “two-finger hover” method. Have you actually been tested or are you just frontin’? What’s your error rate? I call bullsh*t! It’s time to throw down… who wants to battle? What? I’ll take all comers!

It’s called “touch typing” and it’s not shoveling crap, it’s called teaching. School is a place for learning valuable skills. What’s the matter with you kids? :stuck_out_tongue:

My WPM rate dips only slightly… my “equation editor” of choice is LaTeX. Dunno what it is about typeset documents, but like a self-absorbed artist, I am compelled to stare at magnified pages of figures and equations for extended periods after having rendered them… sooooo preeeetty

I tried that Frankenstein of an editor installed in Microslop Word and it made me want to stab my eyes out with a blunt object… there’s a special level, deep in hell, reserved for makers of such user-unfriendly widgets.

A requirement for us to graduate is to take some sort of like, computers class, and I took one that required us to learn how to type. I maxed out at around 160 WPM a few times, and I use the home row system. Like it or not, it is the most efficient system. It’s a mathematic fact.

I touch type on standard qwerty at 70-75 wpm (as tested at a temp agency years ago). I learned on a type writer when I was in high school, so I’ve always been pretty accurate. Does anyone do dvorak? I tried once, but I’ve never been able to break long enough from qwerty to make a concerted effort. It’s too impractical anyways.

with qwerty, i can usally do around 80-90, but ive always wanted to try dvoraks keyboard, i researched it a while ago, and you can go just as fast, if not faster with it, and it is a lot better than a qwerty setup, but i could never find a dvorak keyboard that i could buy, someday though… lol

You don’t have to buy a special keyboard. Windows will let you change the key mapping in the system settings.

I use touch typing and can type pretty fast.
