I’ve been trying out an effect of my camera that I’ve never really tried before. It’s great. I’ve come up with this but I want to try to fit it into the ‘avatar’ space. How do I make it smaller?

You want a GIF animator. There are probably various others out there, but I know Microsoft GIF Animator is free; google will find it. To shrink it with that you’ll probably have to extract each frame, shrink it separately then bung it all back together again. There’s definitely a setting for how fast it goes.

Andrew, the total size of the GIF for the avatar has to be pretty small and you’re not going to be able to retain anywhere as much detail as you have on those pictures (although the second one is a pretty good candidate). If you have a look at some of the other animated avatars you’ll see that most of them are fairly simple graphically. They tend to have a single colour background and the animated object has a lowish number of colours.
If you want to still use your uni, then I’d rephotograph it on a plain background (bedsheet or something). You’ll need to shrink the size of the image (using PhotoShop, PaintShopPro or something) then use whatever GIF editor you’ve used to create your existing ones.
Sounds like a lot of work, but I’m sure you’ll enjoy the process and the end result will be worth it:)

Well I got the program and I tried but I just gave up. I’m not very good with computers and I think I’ll just stick to using photos for my avatar. Thanks for the help though, maybe I’ll try again later.
