Get links from other sites and the search engine spiders will follow those links. Submit to Dmoz.

GET links? Do you mean “cut and paste” irrelevant links onto my web page?

Is submitting to Dmoz a second separate suggestion, or the next step after getting links?

You want other sites to link to your webpage. If a site that is in the search engines have a link to your page, then the search engines will see your site the next time they crawl that page. Then they will crawl your page and it’ll appear in the search engines. The more credible links you get the better your ranking will be in search results.

Dmoz is an directory of sites and is an easy way to get a credible link to your webpage.

A lazy-man’s way to get listed is to make sure your site is relevant to what it says it is. For example, I have unicycling.com, and that’s basically the first text on my homepage, and that page’s TITLE tag as well. So my site still ranks decently high on search results, despite the fact that updates are few and far between… :stuck_out_tongue:

Age of site is important for ranking too. If new links to an old site continue to show up on the web, then it’s viewed as being still a good resource so it should rank higher.
