Hoggy-G 24 x 3.45 Tire

Hey, has anybody used the Hoggy-G 24 x 3.45 for street/trials. If so, how did ya like it? I’m starting to test my sense of humor as I’m wrestling around my 24" Fireball.

I don’t think wide, slick tires are really meant for unicycling, unfortunately  There is just too much contact patch = squirrely, and if you run low PSI like for hopping, it only gets worse. Good luck turning with all the fat smooth rubber bubble gripping the road. I think for trials your best choice is really a 20x2.5 tire or a knobby 24x3. Without the knobs it’s just got too much grip. Maybe there is a supreme tire out there, but I don’t know about it. I say keep the hoggy-g on those 3G cruisers and choppers, that’s where it belongs  Just my opinion.

Thanks for the link. That was exactly what I was looking for!

My brother is using a Kenda Flame 24x3.0 here’s a thread where a guy compared the hoggy-g to the flame: http://www.unicyclist.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=36431&perpage=15&highlight=kenda+flame&pagenumber=2

I’d recommend the Flame. I’ve never ridden a fireball to compare but from what I’ve read it seems like the Flame is way better for a unicycle then the other slick chopper tires. It has thinner sidewalls then a DH tire so you have to run higher pressures to prevent foldovers and does pull some on an off camber trail but over all it rides nicer on hard ground (trials type) then a knobby off road tire.

I used to LOVE the Fireball. However, as my riding progressed I realized that the Fireball was REALLY difficult to control riding skinnies and the more technical things. I am on a quest to find a slick(ish), 24 X 3"(ish) tire that I can do urban trials/street riding with. I LOVE riding my 19"trials, Luna tired uni and now I would like to cover more downtown territory. The one good thing about my Fireball is that it has drasticly improved my riding - once I return to my 19" trials uni. Uni cross-traing, I guess.

Thanks for the heads-up on the Flame! I’ll check it out.

I donno Tommy, I stick liked my fireball. I havent used it for a couple years, since I gave it up for the much lighter 20x2.5 setup. However, in a 24xlarge it did pretty well for me.

This is no help, but in a bike shop the other day I saw a 3" slick “fatt-I-o” tire on an urban bike…
