Historically Accurate Movies

Hello, these are my favourite kind of movies. Please list some good ones. One I am looking, in particular, for something about the Vietnam war. Platoon is a good ‘infantry’ movie about that period, but I am looking for a movie that depicts the actual forming and adminstration of that time. I figure there has to be something.

So far, my favourite movies like this are:

Tora Tora Tora (Pearl habour…but Japanese or US, you are cheering for who’s ever on the screen at themoment)

Enola Gay (Movie of the lives of teh US pilots who unknowingly dropped the atomic bomb)

What are some other good ones?

Re: Historically Accurate Movies

did you know that ‘Enola’ backwards is ‘Alone’? I find that fascinating.
I’m sorry, I just got done running so I feel kind of crazy right now, so I actually have nothing to say. this post is somewhat worthless, so I’ll finish writing it now…

Downfall(Der Untergang).

It’s a new movie that recently came out in Germany. It’s the first peice of media depicting WWII since World War 2. Up untill now, there were laws against depicting Hitler in any form, displaying a Nazi salute, or a swastika in any form in Germany. It’s an excellent movie about Hitler’s demise, from his bunker, with his men, his wife and his dog. If you can find it, see it. Almost better than Schindlers List.

A history-based movie (though not particularly historically accurate) is The Name of the Rose. Sean Connery plays a monk in the 1300’s during the Inquisition., who solves a series of murders.

According to a WWII vet that I know, Saving Private Ryan was an extremely accurate account of what happened at Normandy.

its not well known that nite of the living dead was actully a documentery. My uncle was in it. he was one of the zombies at the gas pump.

that movie realy rocked and was completely accurate, i shit you not.
