hip hop discussion thread

yeah i dont really like pokemon either.

JK i am however a fan of cut chemist

Me too, but its like soulja boy meets shaun paul meets lesbian. I don’t like that style of music from anybody. It’s like bubble gum rap which is terrible, she’s also not what I would call clever with her lyrics. To each their own.

Everybody talking shit about her? New to me. Also Why do they make you want to vommit?

This was my first impression-http://youtube.com/watch?v=VyUYkVuf5eA&feature=related… I didn’t know if she is always like that, but I don’t dig ebonics style lyrics, or very repetitive ones. Also songs dedicated to describing sex, somewhat degrading woman/man, are not something I like. I think hip hop is supposed to be something with more meaning. Maybe some of her stuff is different, but this left a bad taste in my mouth. To each their own.

What I’m saying is, telling Jenro or Qboy that they’re making a big production over being gay is like saying that Malcom X or Matin Luther King Jr. were making a big deal about being black.
And I kinda like straight lyrics, but they get boring and old and I like something I can relate to.

I don’t mind sex songs at all… Lots of my favorite blues songs are completely about sex… but that’s not the only stuff she sings btw. But like you say, each to their own.

I see. I can understand how you can relate to some of her stuff more than I, which probably has to do with why you like it.

Can a white man create true hip-hop?

Yes.

cypress hill, asoep rock, quasimoto,

This dude was serious…

Bump.

Thanks to this thread I started listening to Cypress Hill and Jedi Mind Tricks.

Right now I’m listening to a Jedi Mind Tricks instrumental album. It’s really schweet. I love instrumental hip-hop.

These haven’t been mentioned before, so I’ll say: Hilltop Hoods and The Herd.

Jedi has some of THE BEST beats as far as for instumentals go. I dont think there has been anything on that level.

Check out No Disclaimers by The Herd. Amazing instrumental hip-hop. It’s just one song, though. Jedi made a whole album:)

Jedi Mind does have some good beats but as far as being top notch, they don’t hold a candle to J Dilla or 9th wonder or other classic producers like that.

But I can’t stand JedI mind tricks. I used to be in to them and have two of their cds but it got old. I can’t stand their homophobia or their general sound and how the main emcee sounds the same in every song.

tru dat…in terms of stricly instrumentals i’d try DJ Shadow.

DJ Spooky.

Aesop rock’s music for earthworms is alright. Not fantastic, but some are decent.

Guys, check this song out!:
