im really getting into this whole unicycling thing, as you can see, im into different and unique sports. i need a sport to do when im taking breaks from pogoing. (my body is pretty messed up from pogoing, almost to the point where i cant walk). here are some pics of me, and i will be buying a unicycle this week. its by sun. is that good? im low on cash.
Cool pictures, I’ve never seen this before… a Sun unicycle is a good one if you don’t plan on doing anything more difficult than riding around, a Torker CX (what i ride) is a fairly good Unicycle. Get this unicycle as an investigation, if you really like it then you can upgrade. My unicycle has held up for over a year doing 2-3 foot drops and some 4 foot drops. A lot of stair sets and some simple Trial unicycling.
dont get a Torker CX, they suck, however, the torker LX is a good beginners unicycle, they can be found on unicycle.com. and, that first pic is AWESOME!
HEY CX DON’T SUCK!! mine has survived for over a year of riding distance light trials, and light muni, with some street and freestyle, kind of stuff, the only thing wrong with it is that one of the cranks is slightly bent, and the seat is falling apart… a LX is good but it could be JUST out of his price range…
i never thought this shit was possible on a unicycle…
and can you give me a price and a link to the cx?
and also, if i end up buying a sun unicycle, it has plastic pedals. im guessing those suck for grinding? cuz plastic pegs on pogo sticks suck for grinding, its the metal ones that are good.
Yeah, pretty much - plastic pedals will break soon enough when grindin, but some people actually prefer them sometimes, i think, only coz they slide easier. But yeah, metal is far more durable.
I actually like plastic pedals better for grinding, because they slide nicely on most surfaces.
I like riding with my metal pedals better though, and dont think its worth trading into plastics just to grind on.
Only thing to worry about metal pedals are the pins that will easily cut your legs up on wrecks, and the fact that besides digging into your skin, they will dig into what your trying to grind on.
Solution? Most pedals come with removable pins, that you can screw out of the pedal, but sometimes they dont come like that, or some of the pins wont come out, so you gotta use a file and grind them down level and smooth. Now you have one pedal with one side smooth and flat, the other with the pins. That will work for grinding, but if you ever start doing flip tricks and unispins, youll end up landing on the flat side of the pedal.
If you buy a grind plate, that will put more weight on that side of the pedal so it will always, well, about 90% of the time will land with the pins facing up, which is how you want to land on your pedals. =p
