It’s nice that they showed what happened afterwards and did the followup so we know the kid was OK. Lots of times you see those crash videos and they only show the crash with no info on what happened to the person. Sometimes you watch a video clip and you wonder if you just watched someone die or become permanently disabled.
He was fine, Helmets are gehy.
That looked like a segment from the show “Scarred”. Tons of roller bladers smack their heads like that, and it’s usually when they try to land backwards out of a trick.
Scarred is an awesome show that shows all kinds of cool ways to injure yourself. From what I’ve seen, though, I’d be more worried about twisting one of my limbs in a funky way than hitting my head.
That’s even a better reason to not do stunts that can lead to uncontrolled 10+ foot drops in the concrete jungle.
In the beginning it looks like he is wearing a helmet. Then you see that it is just a cap between his skull and the concrete.
I like what he said at the end of the clip.
“I kind of went at it with a real arrogance
My arrogance kind of got the best of me in the end
Doing something like that you have a big risk to your head
Wear your helmet.”
He is a lucky guy. I think he won’t forget this. Considering what could have happened he is lucky that he will be able to remember the fall.
Wow. Inspiring movie even though I already wear a helmet. I wonder if he still skateboards?
You first
Yeah, he turned out ok, but only because his body took the brunt of the fall before his head hit. If that had not been the case, he’d likely be dead, paralized, or have brain damage.
Well, let’s see what we’ve learned so far:
-
With a fall like that, the kid is lucky to be alive and not permanently damaged.
-
Some of us thought there was a skateboard under his skates.
-
Spudman thinks is brain is in one of his limbs.
-
Evan (or whoever posted that) is gehy.
-
Vidmax appears to offer high-definition, well-edited videos, but only after holding you prisoner through a long commercial. Yuck.
Note the sarcasam in my text. I always wear my helmet.
“Always?” Even in the shower or to bed? Wow, now that’s devotion to safety! Props to you my friend!
You never know when you’re going to hit your head.
So true! Like when I dived into a hotel pool from 2 stories up!
I am glad I bought mine after almost smashing my head on a wall…
People laugh at me for wearing my helmet at strange times. I usually forget to take it off when I am done riding and just walk around in it. It has come in handy so many times though, I was putting my uni in Cody’s trunk and the trunk thing fell on my head, at least my helmet was still on.
Oh and Scarred is a horrible show.
What does sexulaity have to do with wearing a helmet?
