im wanting a trials unicycle but i cant decide between the nimbus 20-inch trials unicycle with a qu-ax wheel or a torker unistar dx 20-inch what should i do
Whatever you decide, make sure it’s splined or else you’ll end up paying more (to replace whatever you get) in the future.
I’d recommend either the 20" Nimbus Hoppley ($350 from UDC), the 20" Nimbus Trials with Qu-Ax wheel ($330) or the 20" Torker DX ($259). They’re all good unicycles, but lately there have been a number of incidents with people breaking their DX frames. A Nimbus frame hasn’t broken yet, to my knowledge.
I wouldnt get the DX.
Once you break the frame on the DX and replace it with the NImbus frame it will almost be an exact replica of the Nimbus with qu-ax wheelset.
I would try to get the Hoppley if you have enough money, but f it is an issue, get the Nimbus with Qu-AX.
If money is really an issue you can get the DX, but plain on replacing the frame in about 5months.
Because there hasn’t been 80,000 threads about this already.
What kind of trials do you do? if it’s nothing extreme, you should be good with the Nimbus or the DX…I’ve heard many good things about the Nimbus, but I’m biased towards the DX, because I have one. Not sure if the Nimbus does, but many people have said that Torker has a lifetime frame warranty (maybe cranks too, not sure).
Just remember, you almost always get what you pay for. If you want something good, it’s almost a guarantee that you will have to pay at least 260 [American] dollars.
I was going to say “get the QU-AX wheel because it has longer cranks”, but apparently it doesn’t. Actually, every single unicycle (cept for the profiles) there comes with 127mm cranks now.
id say dx because i havent had trouble with my dx… yet…
nimbus’ are round crown now… dont know if that is a factor for you or not…
