Help with guitar tabs

I finally started to learn to play a guitar (on my own) and there is a song that’s really fun and I would like to play it. It’s originally from Hank Williams and it’s entitled “Hey, Good Lookin”. I would like to play it like this: youtube link
It’s from a show called Scrubs, some may know it.
So, with my one week worth of guitar knowledge, I can’t get how he plays it. So, I was wondering if someone who plays a guitar would be so kind to write some tabs or somehow explain to me how to do it. I would really appreciate help.

Thanks

no time to watch the vid, but i’d say just look up tabs on google.

I did do that, and all I got were the basic chords. And if I play only those, the music feels empty. I need the extra stuff that is in the vid.

Dude, just listen close and figure it out. It will involve plucking individual strings.

Clearly, you haven’t “learned guitar” in a week. Learning an instrument takes years, and you never really “finish.” You might benefit from a few lessons, just to get the basics of different strums, hand position, and fingerpicking.

I know I can get it in time. I was just looking for an easy way out. You’re right, though.

you could look on the site: 911tabs.com

opens some popups, but the tabs are ok.

Hank Sr. was a genius with heart felt songs. Even though they could be considered simple and he wrote a lot of them going from here to there in his Caddy, the dude had soul… Being typically simple in structure, he would chord and the melody lines were carried by the steel guitar and the fiddle, so if you were to play Hank Sr. songs as he would play them on the guitar, you wouldn’t be picking, so the tabs would should the chords and chord changes. Good luck and keep at it.

Here it is:

All the chords are:

Cmaj
D7
G7
C7
Fmaj

They are all played in the open position. In other words, they are not bar (or power) chords.

When playing the Cmaj chord, move your “ring” finger between C on the A string and G on the E string (shown as C/G or C with a G on top). Alternating those two bass notes over the C chord gives the characteristic sound you are looking for.

The progression goes like this:

C C/G C C/G
Hey good lookin
C C/G C C/G
what chu got cook’n

D7
how’s about cook’n
G7
somethin up with me
C C/G C C/G

The change is

D7
how’s about cook’n
G7
somethin up with me
C C7

F
I got a hot rod ford
C
and a two dollar bill
F
C
F
C
D7
If you want to have fun
G7
come along with me

back to the start…

Hope this helps and good luck.

I tried to line up the chords with the words, but it didn’t take when I posted the reply. But you should get the basic picture.

Hey, thanks. That’s exactly what i was looking.
Thank you:)
