Hi Folks.
I turned computer off on Friday. No problems. Back on today. Boots up smoothly.
Now Outlook is Blank!! No emails, no email addys no accounts no nothing. Just like it was a new computer. Everything else seems fine. All my documents are okay, favorites on IE are okay etc.
Any tips on recovering the emails? Some are critical…

Check what happened to the outlook folder and don’t use outlook unless you really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really have to…
ps. I actually typed all those reallys, I didn’t want to copy and paste. Really didn’t want to. But then again, I type pretty fast, so it’s not a problem. See ya.
The outlook folder is there. Looks okay.
I did of course try to openoutlookthis am and it opened just fine, but blank. I have not done anything to its but open and close it. I didn’t put in a new account for email, for example.
Next?
Ditch Outlook and go Mozilla Thinderbird!!

I know your problem, had it as well only with a different programm. After that my email folder is backed up on a daily basis. It was a really annoying problem.
What might help, install an alternativ email program like Mozilla Thunderbird (it’s freeware, you can find it here) and try to import your stuff from Outlook (in Thunderbird go to extras and then import and follow the instructions).
Btw. what do you mean by the folder looks ok? Is it still a decent size or more close to zero? If it is close to zero your mails probably gone, even if the folder is there. Why those things happen???, just ask Mister Bill Gates.
Are you using Outlook or Outlook Express?
Do you have your mail-files still? The folder where they’re supposed to be is in “settings” somewhere.
Outlook. I just found the 808M email file… too big to back up on a CD Rom!
I am now importing it and it seems to be working. It imported the Deleted items first…lol.
It will be a few minutes to import the large inbox. I will delete a bunch of files and then back it all up.
I think what happened is a .NK2 file was damaged when I shut the computer down Friday, so Outlook could not find the email file. Best I can figure. I deleted that file and am importing the email file so hopefully that will work!
