help me with my unicycle buddy icon

hello,

i am a big fan of hell-on-wheel’s avatar. i think it looks awesome and would really like to make it my buddy icon on aim (i assume he doesn’t mind?)

the only problem is that the gif file is 11,000 bytes or something like that. aim requires its buddy icons to be under 7,800 something bytes. how can i make it smaller? i dont mind lowering the quality or taking out every 4th frame or whatever it takes. any ideas? perhaps theres a way of getting around aim’s limit? or maybe i can make the whole hting smaller? sorry im computer impaired and i need your help. thanks

Right-click on the avatar and “save image” or “save picture” as some file someplace on your computer. Give it an extension, it’s a .gif file. Try to edit it with a photo program like Photoshop or Infanview. Use the image pull down menu and the rise/resample function to reduce the frame size.

Actually, his is an animated .gif. All of the frames have to be extracted and resized/resampled. I think his has 32 frames. The “extract all frames option” should also be in the image menu. Look at your photo program’s help file for editting animated .gifs.

This is a good time to make another shameless plug for Irfanview. If you ever need a good image viewer or a basic image manipulator (change brightness and contrast, change an image to grayscale or alter the size, etc), Irfanview is an excellent program. And the best part is that it’s free!
