Help me rally for disadvantaged kids!

I don’t ask much of my Unicyclist.community, save the occasional grammatical correction, but now it’s time to rally. I’m barely holding on to first place in fundraising for the 2011 FOG Rally, and I need your help to stay ahead!

50 Ferraris Drive, 50 kids win!

On September 23rd, California’s Ferrari Owners Group (FOG) will kick off its first annual charitable road rally. Our goal is to raise $100,000 for Opportunity Impact, a program designed to equip at-risk youth with the skills and support necessary to navigate their way to a brighter future.

Opportunity Impact’s five-year program is open to children living in public housing who have little or no access to other support services, and are at an increased risk of youth violence and youth crime. Children enter the program in grade 5, and OI is committed to working with them through the important development years until grade 8.

YOU can help, too!

By making a tax-deductable donation to Opportunity Impact, you can be a part of the FOG Rally! Every little bit counts, even if you can only spare $20, it’d put us that much closer to our goal. Donations are accepted by personal check (PM me for details), or use your credit card at http://www.fogrally.com/register/. Be sure to enter my name, Jason, in the “Driver Credit” field so that your donation gets added to my total!

To show my appreciation for your support, the top contributor from Unicyclist.com will have his/her name (or that of a loved one) featured on my car for the rally! PM me with your donation amount if you want to enter into this mini-contest.

Great cause - I’m in. Just donated, and you’ll also see a match from my company coming. Good luck!

Not to sound like a wiener, but what if they just sold one of those nice, shiny cars? Maybe that would be too easy…

Possible donation in the works. WOW!! Just looked at the numbers. Very impressive! Motivated Ferrari drivers can raise some serious funds!

Thanks Tom, you da best! I’ll see if my company can match my MS ride donation… then we both win!

That’s an easy answer. If someone sold his car then he couldn’t drive in the rally.

Living in Silicon Valley, working in the tech industry, we’re only separated by one or two degrees from some dot-com success stories… and these guys have serious money to donate.

It’s not what you know, it’s who you know! That’s a good thing, 'cause I don’t know much…

I just fell out of first place. Let’s show these guys what a unicyclist can do! Y’know, besides look silly.

To answer a question I got about administrative costs, let me post an email I just received from the organization’s founder:

Hey, get on the stick. You’ve fallen solidly into second place.

Is this how we show the world what unicyclists can do?
