hello from NY

Hey, my name is Tim. I picked up unicycling just last month on a 24" Torker CX that I borrowed from a friend. I have since returned it, and enjoyed it so much that I bought/customized my own 20" CX with a double-wall bmx rim, dirt-jump bmx tire and some neat green pedals…

So far I can only backpedal freemount, jump-to-pedals freemount, bunnyhops… i can make it around the neighborhood, ride and juggle and 180 (but not ride backwards, only 180 to ride forwards)…

I’m not sure if this is good progress for a 1-monther or not, but I’m super excited to be learning this sport

My current goals are idling, riding backwards and 180 unispins. I can unispin and land on the cranks momentarily, but i can’t hold it long enough to gain balance or ride off :frowning:

Nice to be a part of Unicyclist.com!

Hi Tim. Welcome to the forum.

I’d say you’ve gotten pretty far in one month. I was still trying to make it across the parking lot at that stage. Your goals make sense. I learned in almost the same order: idling, backwards, one-footed, seat out, 180 unispins.

If I were you, I’d save unispins for later. You have to be pretty comfortable hopping and riding seat out before you can really do them well.

Keep us posted on your progress. I’m always interested in how people learn.

Thanks  will do. I make sure I get some riding time in every day, hopefully I continue to progress! I have gotten pretty comfortable with tire grabs and no-footers over the past few days.

Hey Tim, that is awesome progress in a month! Keep at it and let us know how you go. Steeley

Ty both. I posted a video on YouTube of my progress a few days ago. I’m near niagara falls so NYC is a bit of a travel for me  sounds neat though!
