"Hell on Wheel" - A song about extreme unicycling

First off, I am not a unicyclist. I am a songwriter who was tasked with writing a song about Xtreme unicycling. I just figured that you folks might enjoy it. I’m not trying to spam your forum either. I just figured that this song about unicycling might be of some interest to you.

Do it on the pavement
We’re doin’ it in the road
We give it all up…to p-p-put on a show

In it for the glory
In it for the win
Using my free time…to g-g-go for a spin

We are hell on wheel! X3
Hell on wheel!

Gettin’ a workout
Havin’ fun
Refining my skills, a-a-out in the sun

Hoppin’ up on a park bench
Hoppin’ up and down the stairs
When it comes to wheels we, d-d-don’t need a pair

We are hell on wheel! X3
Hell on wheel!

One chance
One deal
One life
One wheel
x4

We are hell on wheel! X3
Hell on wheel!

Who tasked you, who performs?

I fellow on a local (Columbus, OH) music forum, who knows that I like to write goofy songs about whatever comes to mind, challenged me to write a song about Xtreme Unicycling. I took up the challenge, and made this in less than a day. And it is me, Billy Cool and the Whips, who performed the music and sang.

I love it!

Thanks for sharing it with us here.

I like how it doesn’t hit you over the head that it’s about a unicycle. It’s like reading a novel where in the beginning, you have no idea what’s going on, then after a few pages or chapters, everything starts to come together and make sense. If the word ‘wheel’ in the singular doesn’t catch the casual listener’s attention, then he will fully get the fact that the song is about a unicycle when he hears my favorite line, “When it comes to wheels we d-d-don’t need a pair” (I may have to use that line the next time someone makes the standard unicycle joke – “where’s your other wheel?”).

Good music, too. You guys are really good. I checked out some of your other stuff – once you actually told us who you were. Thanks for not “spamming” our forum with self-promotion. But hey! There’s nothing stopping me from giving you my thumbs up and recommending that others check out more of your music.

By the way, this makes two unicycle songs that I know of. Our beloved unicyclist and friend and all-around super-talented and awesome guy Dogbowl (a.k.a. Steve Tunney) also wrote a song about unicycling. It’s called “On a One-Wheel” (click the link on that page to hear the full song). He learned to unicycle and fell in love with the sport. His experiences inspired the song he wrote.

You said you are not a unicyclist. May I append the word “yet” to that sentence? You should give it a try some day. Thanks again for the cool song and for sharing here.

Honestly, I like Thrustin’s Rock better.

There’s so much potential in unicycling for a musician. Imagine a musical manifesto for each style. Freestyle, Street, Trial, Muni, XC, …

I checked out Dogbowl’s song. Pretty cool. It’s what the Beach Boys would have done, if they were into unicycles, instead of fast cars.

Thanks fo the kind words, and the reccomendation. However, if you are going to venture off and look for more Billy Cool an the Whips songs, be careful because most of them are NSFW! Just sayin’…

Oops! Thanks. I neglected to mention that (it crossed my mind then I promptly forgot). We are indeed a family-friendly forum. NSFW! (I had to look it up, lol)

Great song! Is there a way we can get this in .mp3 format or similar, to add to our tiny “unicycle music” collections?

Like it a lot!!!

Since it hasn’t been mentioned, Kevin Alexander Smith’s ‘Unicycle Rap’ is quite brilliant too. I saw it on Youtube some time ago.

I just checked out Kevin’s rap. Pretty funny stuff. I like how he says that he doesn’t want to hear the circus song. Do people really sing the circus song at you when you ride around?

You’re right the video is really funny, but Thrustin’s music is more to my taste.

people sing the circus song all the time

Hahaha!!! I’m singing it right now!

You, you … fiend!

Pesky taskers.

Yup.

I am such a geek. One look at the picture and I knew the dialog; “He tasks me and I shall have him.” Krazy Khan. But like a poor marksman, he’ll keep missing the target! :stuck_out_tongue:

I like that - nice one mate, thanks for posting it here. I’ll have a listen to some of your other stuff (I’m not easily offended…)

Rob

Nothing about muni. Hmm.

I’ll get you started:

Muni muni muni muni, muni
Some people got to have it
Some people really need it

I just looked what “muni” means. That looks like it would have a steep learning curve. :astonished: I think I’ll stick to drinking and writing stupid songs.
