Harper's first article in Mother Jones

…written under the oddly-chosen pen name of “Kiera Butler”

Are Cats Bad for the Environment? - How feral felines (and their human friends) pounce on the planet

I rather like the title of the infographic: “Apocalypse Meow”

This article is so convincing, I think I shall head home and drive over my cat with the Prius in the name of Saving The Earth ™.

Just keep it inside, love it, and spay it.

Pssst. Morty. Keep your head up buddy. :astonished:

Dang. Outed again. I can’t slip anything past you.

Interesting that birds are 97% as likely to off themselves by running into a building as they are to be killed by a cat. The only reasonable course of action is to abolish buildings, they are far too dangerous for our wildlife.

What if Harper has a black cat named “Jar Jar Binks” and the cat sits in his lap purring contentedly as Harper watches “Star Wars”, petting the cat with his left hand while calculating the square inches of surface that each Ruffles potato chip contains in his right hand?

Cats are responsible for an ailment known as “Cat scratch fever”

Cats are also transferring “Bird Flu”

Cats are also spreading a new strain of Bird Disease called “Chirpies Simplex II”
that is hard on the victims pecker.

To top all that off I heard that three naughty kittens all soiled their mittens and they shall have no pie!

It surprises me that nowhere in the article did it mention the fact that cats are flammable. That’s an inexcusable oversight.

The article’s focus is on how felines impact the Earth. As far as I know, they emit no toxic chemicals when they burn. Just lots of high-pitched noise.

“As far as I know” indicates that more testing is required. Let’s be sure about this important environmental consideration.

I remember picking up a dead Cardinal when I was 4

It looked so beautiful, like it was perfect. My grandma said ew, it is dead, leave it alone. Yet I had always wanted to touch one. It was so beautiful, so perfect. What was wrong with this most perfect red object? It was obviously perfect, glorious and red. Yet it was dead. It had flown into grandma’s window. Grandma let me hold it for a while, and then I put it down.

Windows kill a lot of birds too. I know my back one has killed a couple. More than my two cats, in fact who have never killed a thing except perhaps a lot of time.

Where’s Mother Jones on the window problem?
