Hackey Sack.

Lately, during our 30 minute lunch, myself and 3 of my friends have gotten into a ritual hackey sack session in the front of the school; we’re using Dirtbags(I have two and a friend of mine has two) and over the past few weeks we’ve gotten pretty good. We’ve even though about making a day of it on weekends. Often times when 3 of us meet in a hall a dirtbag will pop out of a pocket and away we’ll go, right there in the crowded hallway, for a minute or two, then we head off to our classes. It’s sweet stuff, and it gives us something to do during lunch…

So far, we’ve gotten to the point where everyone can control the bag for a few taps and stalls, then pass it along, and that getting it to everyone isn’t as much of a problem as how creatively we can do it.

How many of you out there hack?
What kind of hackey sack do you use?

I play hack, or rather, I have.

We used to, but dont much anymore, seeing as how I lost my hackey sack, and another kid lost his… I just had a cheap knit no-namer I got somewere, but it worked good.

We could pass it around some, probally not as good as you described. I can bounce it on my knees and either foot, but I dont really know if any tricks or anything like that…I’ve never seen anybody that was very good at it…

There are group of kids at my school that hack after lunch. I have done it a few times but im not very good. You might be able to do this but you thorw the hacky sack backwards over your head and then kick it with your heel back in front of you or to someone else.

Yes, the trick you decribed skate4flip is called a rainbow, as is any hit that tosses the hack over your body in an arch. I personally like to side rainbow, or front toe stall to side rainbow.

Re: Hackey Sack.

Not a big hacker any more, but once upon a time.

You want the good footbags, check out these folks. Lots of choice, plus they’ll go custom for you:

I have a passion for hack, I think I may have started a thread about it a while ago. I use suede-ish balls bead filled balls or a sandblaster for doing stalls.

It truely is the game of champs I was heavily into it last year to the point that I started a hacky sack club. I say club, it really cnsisted of me and a few hack playing friends (and some non playing ones) congregating in the park every sunday, drinking cold beer and playing hack.

It’s a great game, it really improves your flexibility and is a much better work out than you’d think. It complements unicycling nicely as unicycling makes you lose some of the flexibility in your legs.

Have you tried playing footbag net? It’s basically volleyball but with a hack. I reccomend it.

i like dirt bags. very nice. i don’t hack much anymore but used to be okay. Weird side story: while on a cross country bike ride we stopped in eugene and went to the flying clipper(they also sell juggling stuff) and ended up crashing in the manager’s backyard.

I don’t much anymore. I’ve still got a half a dozen of the crocheted sacks that I use for juggling. They’re great for juggling because when you drop one it doesn’t roll under the sofa.

me and my friends hack at lunch and in the halls as you described, Catboy

it’s fun to pass around, but the most fun is the game “God”
you set a certain # of hits that must be attained, and a certain number of people that must hit it, then once that has been reached, someone can catch it and throw it at someone, who, once hit, is out (or you can play that you have 3 lives, each represented by a letter of “god.” (FYI: the first hacks someone does if they start it themselves don’t count, but it counts as a person (out of the number you need))
You can also stall it and then peg someone, even if the numbers haven’t been reached, but the stall must be off of someone else’s hit, not your own.
finally, when you have narrowed it down to two people, you play “numbers” for the final.
numbers is: 1st person hits it once, 2nd person hits it twice, 1st person thrice, etc…
you get two tries, and if you don’t make your #, then the other person gets one try to make it an eliminate you
if someone trys to eliminated you 3 times and doesn’t succeed, they win anyways

Colin, games are fun stuff.

We kind of made up a game called “Snoo Snoo” basically the first person to hit has to hit it once and pass, the second person hits it twice, and the third three times and so on and so forth… We got up to 13 once, and then it died, but usually we just pass it around and go for creative stuff.

If you want to be official it’s called footbag, not hacky sack. Hacky sack is a brand name. Much like the sport is not Rollerblading but inline skating.

yea i used to hacky sack a lot only last year. the only trick i could was the jester or whatever but it was still awesome. me and my friends used to play in groups and one day i overtook half the pe and started playing with 15 kids in a circle…goooood times

I played hack in high school and a little in community college, but have since lost the will to play (ever since I got my trials uni). I’m always down for a game when a group’s around, but never practice solo anymore. Dirt bags are the best for learning stalls and grabs and etc… my “signature moves” were behind-the knee grabs and leg-around jesters, but I haven’t kicked sack for a couple years.

Bring your hackey to CMW, Catboy… how’s 'bout a game at base camp?

I grew up just outside Eugene but never noticed the flying clipper until a hometown visit some eight years after I moved away. It was at the flying clipper where I saw my first 24x3 uni, and after that day I knew I wanted to ride a unicycle. The rest is history!

Will do, I’ll bring my Blue/Yellow dirtbag and indulge in some games.

Back when i was in school i played that game everyday, everychance I had…i was as obsesed with it as much a unicycling!

Check out these funky animations, they will make thee chuckle.

My mom and i make our own footbags which is cool because i make the design then her and i make it so so far we have prolley made about 50 or so for us and other people who want a custom design…i have like 20 and my sister like 14???

I saw an excellent juggler recently who did that as part of his performance–juggling, and hacking, juggling with one hand and one knee or foot, and balancing on one foot while catching sacks on his feet and knees and elbows. Really amazing juggling.

hey im austin and im a pretty good FOOTBAGGERto sound more pro you should call it footbaging. You dont have to whatever. ok anyway i can hit about 100 times i can stall on both my toes, my right inside foot and i can occasionaly butterfly and clipper hit nothing much…Oh heres my bag…
