I can‘t believe there isn‘t a worldwide standard on this! :face_with_peeking_eye:
Then again, a helicopter isn’t like a car where you know how to drive one you know how to drive them all (at least most of them). So I guess most pilots just fly one or two different makes, which would reduce the chances for them to have to deal with the two different types.

I was just as surprised when I learned about this, but my instructor (who flies both American and European helicopters), said it’s not really a big deal. He basically explained that if the nose starts swinging in one direction, you’re going to naturally react by pressing the opposite pedal, regardless of which pedal that happens to be. I can’t say if it’s as easy a transition (at least for me) as he was indicating because I’ve only flown one type of helicopter.
