Guilty admission

On impulse today I bought a bicycle. :astonished:

Unicycling, like atheism, is not a religion. There is no betrayal, no sin, and no guilt. Enjoy your bicycle as you would a loverā€™s embrace.

One less of us and one more of themā€¦well, maybe not one less of us, but certainly one more of them.
I agree with Raphael, anyway (:

Cathy: What got into you??!

There is still time to take it backā€¦

Itā€™s true. Raphael tells all his Atheist friends that when they ALSO accept Christianity. Itā€™s not a betrayal to your Atheism. You can do BOTH!

But thatā€™s not because Raphael is broad minded, not because of his odd claim that Atheism is not a religion.

Donā€™t use that language in here! This is a family forum!

Bicycle, juggling, circus, clown!!!

Well spotted, gk. Actually I have ordered it from LBS (mostly because I was chatting to the guy at the shop - moaning about cycle lanes actually, anyway the conversation moved on and he was the only mountain biker who I have spoken to who has had ever seen unicyclists in a mountiain biking event - sleepless in the saddle, I think - so I had to buy a bike from him) and I get it on Thursday.

Itā€™s not going to replace unicycling though.

OK now you got the bike so you just need to buy the Xtracycle conversion to make it useful as you obviously donā€™t need it for ā€œjust riding aroundā€ you have your collection of unicycles for that.

I am not affiliated with Xtracycle in any way I just think they make a bike SO much more useful. Unfortunately they tend to cost as much as the bike being converted.

Can you do a wheelie? You be careful on that thing.

jesus cath! I have the right mind to push the report button and get you banned! :astonished:

Perhaps this is really my guilty admission then:

One of the reasons that I bought the bike is that, now and again, I just want to blend in. I donā€™t want to be laughed at or stared at or insulted, just because I am going about my daily exercise. Iā€™ve tried to hack it and endure or ignore and usually I can but itā€™s really hard because Iā€™m basically shy. So I wanted a soft option for the days when I didnā€™t feel like being stared at by the whole world.

on a diffrent note Iā€™m confused, most b*s donā€™t buy stableisers for there B after learning to ride it so I am confused in why you are doing this, you donā€™t need a training wheel!

ride like nobodys watching

You local charity group will be very pleased that you are donating such a high cost item. It truly will make some kids birthday a very special day.:stuck_out_tongue:

Totally understandableā€¦

but a BIKE? :astonished:

Are you sure youā€™ll be safe on two wheels?

ahhh! it burns, it BURNS!!!

Who knows maybe itā€™s this type of bike.  http://www.unicycle.com/shopping/shopexd.asp?id=440

Yes i agree with you on that habby.

Maybe he bought one to make it look like this.

Cathy I can so totally relate to what you said here! I have been unicycling for years now, and, in fact, the first year of my unicycling obsession I didnā€™t ride my bike even once, not once for a whole year. But yes, I definitely know what you mean by wanting to ā€˜blend inā€™ and I too sometimes opt for the two wheeler just to be able to ride around anyomenously.

My dislike of the attention riding a unicycle seems to draw was greater than I realized until recently when my brother expressed an interest in learning to ride a unicycle and one of the first things I warned him of was not how hard it might be too learn to ride but how prepared he had to be for the constant attention he would get while out riding the one wheeler.

I love the type of fun filled exercise the uni offers me and generally prefer it to a bike. Often I ride the bike paths on my uni with my ipod softly blocking out the tiresome ā€˜whereā€™s your other wheelā€™ comments or the loudly hummed ā€˜circus songā€™. But once in a while I grab up my mountain bike and just go for a fast ride all the while amazed that no one is even looking at me let alone commenting on my form of transport.

Enjoy your new two wheels once you get 'em!

I bought a two wheeler last year. I did 500 miles on it over Friday and Saturday.

Of course, it does have an 800cc engine.

You have fun, Cathwood. A bit more practice and you could find yourself with a tricycle.:stuck_out_tongue:

I was tempted to buy a bike yesterday: a trandem: a three seeater tandem. I have absolutely no use whatsoever for a trandem, but I saw too many episodes of the Goodies when I was a kid.

I prefer a tricycle over a bike anyday.
