Welcome to the mailing list/newsgroup. I wish more people would introduce
themselves this way. Your singing idea sounds like a good one, and I may try it
on people who are trying to learn new things (or myself, if no one’s around).

hi ho, Kermit the frog here with another late breaking sesame street
news flash …

Oops, wrong mail list.

Hi, this is just a letter of introduction.

My name is Wayne van Wijk and I currently live in Brisbane, Australia. I am
quite pleased to be added to this mail list as it may make me feel a little bit
more normal to not be the only person who prefers cycling on one wheel.

Where to start? The only place to begin is with my first uni. I was 17, had a
job and was into spending all of my pay on unusual toys. It was then that I saw
a unicycle for sale in the local bike shop. I bought it, tried it for about a
week, and then stuffed it into the back of the cupboard with all the other stuff
that I had decided I had wasted my money on.

Several months later I stumbled upon a juggle club and low and behold there
were people there who gave me some hints that eventually made unicycling an
achievable and enjoyable experience (weight on the seat, look straight
ahead, etc.)

I had read in an acrobatic book that singing while training was a great was to
ensure that you were relaxed and breathing evenly. It also stops you thinking
too much about what you are doing so that the task becomes second nature. The
results were probably quite hilarious for everybody in the Brisbane botanical
gardens that day. Picture a guy on a unicycle, just staying up, singing to
himself whilst attempting to dodge trees, wheelie bins and pedestrians.

Seven years later - my unicycling is much better but my singing still sucks.

I have been fortunate enough to make unicycling into an integral part of my job.
I work as a Jester and do all sorts of circus type tricks. I also teach circus
skills in Primary and High schools.

I am always looking for new Unicycle ideas. The latest thing that I have come up
with is the current finale of my show - it involves riding a giraffe uni with
one leg tied behind my back.

Any way, I look forward to being part of the mail list.
