green screen??????

hey i was watching a video on you tube and he was using green screen and i was like whooo how do u do that but he dident anser me so if anney of u gies now how to green screen plz let me in on how to do it thx tim

get a green screen camera + gs software?

well, the idea of a green screen is that you can place whatever you want in the background of what you are doing. I have never personaly used one, but my idea of them is that they use a highly uncommon color for anything else to be, and so it is much easier to select and take out of a video to overlay them, or attach a background to.

You would be right.

Awesome video using green screen. (Or is it Chroma key?)

The skateboards are painted green.

Mike

Wow, that was one of the coolest videos ive seen. A uni vid would be cooler tho.

My 1st ever experience with a blue-screen was this commercial I was in.

It’s called chroma key’ing and can be done with blue, green, red, yellow.
And in this uniconnews episode you can see it been done with even reflection of UV light.
Usually it’s been done with software. Sony Vegas and Macromedia Flash for example have a chroma-key option.

I’ve used chroma keying on unicycle.net on the scene’s “freestyle”, “pizza”, and “coffee”.
I used a green-screen, and see the problem I ran into with dark-green in the “pizza” scene.

The effects in above you-tube video are probably being done with special hardware that detect camera-movements automaticly (by measuring all kind of distances of the surrounding), and by computer calculations how to position the fake backround (in realtime).
The last show makes clear that the background was not blue (there was a guy wearing a blue shirt).

Cool ad but what was it advertising?

And were you the unicyclist in it?

I don’t speak that language (let alone read it!), what was it a commercial for?

A insurance company.

yes, but in the close up’s the face wasn’t mine.

In the skateboard video it’s more than just a blue or green screen process. Deleting only the skateboards would leave you with skateboard shadows. I think a lot of hand-editing went on there, to clean up the skateboards and correct the shadows to make it look like just the guy.

Also a blue or green-painted skateboard wouldn’t give you a clear cutout, as it would have highlights and shadows; a full range of the color on it.

I looked into this because I was thinking about doing this with parts of unicycles and one comment from a video site said:

“If you look between :54 and :55 you can get a clue as to how they did it. Basically cutting out pieces of the scene and pasting them together to make a clean plate. Then rotoscoping (animating a mask frame by frame with tweening) the feet of the skaters in each shot, and recreating the shadows of the feet that the board would have blocked, if you look at some of those shots you can see that the feet shadows don’t exactly match color-wise.”

And to be able to use green screen you need software that has it.

The next version of ichat might have greenscreen software built in for while you are video chatting, I can’t wait.

You don’t delete anything.

When using UV light reflection you won’t have shade.
Check www.reflecmedia.com. With that system you don’t even need a tight bg.
Check the uniconnews episode I linked to, it show’s pilling is invisible.

And you could cover the skateboard entirely with relective stuff as well to make it invisible.
So no handwork editing needed.

thx gies fore the info whel i gess what im trying to ask is that can i do this say with my web cam go just a run fo the mill video cramria with out having to go out and by a 500 daller program ???

You need the program, it doesn’t matter what kind of camera you have I don’t think. The program might be more expensive than that but I’m not sure.

Just a bit off topic, what song is this?

correct. Any regular digital camera will do.
But webcams are usually making a lot of fuzz. DV or HDV are excellent but expensive. Myself, I mostly used a simple digital camera.

With basic software you will be able to do basic stuff.
More coplex software will be able to render better and deal with multiple properties simultanously.

Maybe you/he like to play around with this demo-software

Oh, here another commercial, very simple, but nice.

This is another great one, Girl always do the best videos. Guess how its done?

Mike

When i read the thread name, i thought you meant when a new movie comes out and there’s no classification or something.
