Great Coker Ride - 2000

Greetings, all-

Brian Berlin’s suggestion is on target. Awhile back unicyclist Kevin Seaman
suggested that we sponsor a Coker ride from our hometown of Marietta, Georgia
to the Coker Tire Company HQ in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The distance is about
100 miles and can be safely ridden in two days.

David Coker is delighted by the idea. We picked a tentative weekend in October
(13-15)for several reasons:

  1. This gives riders 5 months to train
  2. By October the Southern heat index has subsided (our Summers are
    notoriously hot and humid)
  3. This date won’t interfere with other important unicycling events, such as
the NUC, UNICON, John Foss’s wedding <g> or the California MUni Weekend.
  4. Kevin Seaman and David Coker are available to participate at that time
(David isn’t riding a unicycle yet, but we’re encouraging him!)

We supported the Unicycle Across Minnesota campaign last year which raised more
than $30,000 for Multiple Sclerosis research, and we believe strongly in
supporting worthy causes. We also intend to raise funds during this “Coker
Ride” for a charitable organization. Details, and ride logistics, will be
posted soon.

How many of you are interested in riding with us?

                             Best regards,
                             John Drummond

Hey John, That sounds great. Definately count me in for whatever weekend you
decide. My schedule, at least for this, is wide open. Before the ride starts
can we all play on your unicycles? Hope to hear details soon. Bye Bye and
keep ridin’.
