Whoopee! We made it! Ben has graduated from high school. Where has the time gone? We moved to Rochelle when young Bennie was two weeks old (actually closed on our house before he was born). Now he’s off to bigger and better things. It was a great ceremony, a time for parents to be proud.
i though graduation was what you do at university and college? high schools are like secondry schools right?
I dont know what to say about graduation, as i dont know what it is, so is congratulations alright?!?
I guess high school and secondary school are the same thing. It does have its significance because some don’t go on to college (or university). So this is the only graduation they’ll have. Ben is going on to college in the fall to pursue a degree in computer systems engineering.
Our education system is a little different than yours. High school in the UK ends when you are around 16 correct? High school in the U.S. is for “grades” 9-12, and ends when you are around 18.
Note: I attended my high school graduation ceremony, but skipped my college graduation ceremony. I opted to have my diploma mailed to me instead of driving 4 hours back down to Blacksburg to attend the ceremony.
You can leave school when you’re 16, or you can stay on until 18 in high school. Many people do the 16 - 18 bit in a sixth form college rather than a school. Still, you don’t graduate until you leave university (which less than half the population do), so most people in the Uk never graduate from anything.
Having said that, I’m graduating my MEng on the 26th of september
