Google Earth...

I did a search and amazingly nobody has yet mentioned this. This program is absolutely brilliant, and free!

Try it, but be warned that it takes up a lot of download usage. I’d love to know exactly how much so that I don’t get carried away with this and get our internet capped.

Andrew

I wonder what happens if you type in
“lady sunbathing in back garden”?

I ran that search, and it came back with the view below.

Re: Google Earth…

Is anybody else worried about Google taking over the world? I’m starting to see them as a form of mind control!

Re: Re: Google Earth…

do you really think so?

that is really cool. I used to use terraserver.microsoft.com, but this one is more recent, in color, better quality, etc. yeah, that’s really awesome, thanks for posting it

Re: Re: Re: Google Earth…

JP, Thanks. That’s very good. Frightening to me. Terrifying really. Bu it was quite good.

The picture of my house isnt recent enough. I can see my trampoline, but not the Karmann Ghia, or my brothers NEW Volvo…

It looks like it was taken spring 03’ ish…

That flash anim is really realistic, except for the merger of amazon & google… googlezon? lol.

I really liked the idea of an ipod as a real time (gps enabled) blogging tool. You dictate a relevant entry (accident or meet up or news item or whatever), maybe link some pics into it, set the broadcast level (friends, local area, nationwide, etc) and upload. The pod then sends the data to a server (google owned? lol) along with a location tag. Using a built in browser (or automatic filters like ‘display all accident entrys on route X to Y’) you can then search for anything on the server, and have a location for the entry making it much more relevant. By setting the broadcast level for blogs you could even have things like a local weather service (with images) that only people in a certain geographical area can recieve.

You’d never get lost again, cos you can broadcast a help tagged blog asking for directions from your current location to place X, and someone else can send you a specific blog containing a picture, directions or a GPS marker for the location.

A very useful (and achievable with current technology, even a palm with bluetooth/wifi could do it) tool.

If anyone wants to know what my grandfather’s oldsmobile looks like from the top, here it is!

I downloaded it and think it’s really fun to play with. Just wish it was a little clearer when you zoomed in…

My town is so small and insignificant that they didn’t even give a high rez version of it!!! I can’t even make out my neighborhood. Yea, all I would have to do is move about 2 miles East and I’d be able to see it…stupid google…stupid town…

Yeah, I’m rather disappointed of the grainyness of the car. in a photograph taken from space.

I should make my dissappointment known to Andrew_Carter, I think he works for google marketing.
