Good starter unicycle?

Hi,

Unicycling sounds/looks great and I’d like to give it a try. I’m 6’1" and
about 200lbs. Am I correct in assuming that I should look for a unicycle with
a 24" diameter wheel? From my reading, it seems like used Schwinn unicycles
are good for those who are justing starting out. Any opinions?

Thanks!

David

We’ve bought 4 Torker (very affordable!) unicycles in the last 4 months (one for
each of us plus a Savage giraffe for my son) from Unicycle Source
(Unicycle.com). We think that they are great starter unicycles and have heard
that some “pros” use them. They appear to be very nicely made and have gotten a
GREAT DEAL of use and some abuse (from beginning and wild riders) and look/ride
as if they were brand new. We couldn’t be more pleased with them or with the
service that we’ve received from the Drummonds at Unicycle Source. Our kids are
more interested in learning tricks and have 20 " wheels while my husband and I
are more into distance and have 24" wheels. Several people in our unicycle club
have 24" wheels and are very good at a wide variety of tricks. Hope this
helps…I’m sure there are lots of opinions out there from more experienced
riders also.
