Good Night and Good Luck--the movie

I just saw Good Night and Good Luck–the movie about Edward R. Murrow and Senator Joe McCarthy. It had many parallels to today, except today there is no one like Edward R. Murrow…

Being a loyal American, I loved it! Has anyone else seen it yet?

Billy

I have not seen it but plan to. You should check out Tell the Truth and Run: Georges Seldes and the American Press.

People who frequent JC rarely go to movies, and watch very little TV, or else they just don’t want to talk about it…

Care to speculate why that is?

Billy

I’ll talk about it. I watch way too much TV. I’m usually reading or playing the guitar while I’m doing it, or doing housework, or paying bills, or planning a Sunday school lesson, or plotting a putsch, but if I actually listed the number of shows I watch regularly and those I happen to see on occasion it would scare the crap of me. Oh yeah, or on this infernal site.

I’d go to the movies way more often if I could just ditch this damn family I somehow acquired.

Shhhh on the Sunday school, or the Atheists will threadjack us. Tune in to this tonight, and let me know what you think.

I am an atheist.

I haven’t been able to watch anything with Alan Alda since he did the move The Four Seasons.

Yes, but you’re a practicing Atheist, who teaches Atheism in the Church of Atheism. So you don’t have to threadjack and make BIG proclamations about it. You are a good quiet Atheist.

Try tonight. Alda is the Republican candidate!!!

Billy

You missed a great LIVE presidential debate last night, with a real news debate moderator and real audience. Lots of fun, and educational too.

It’s on Sunday night at 8 EST.

So who was it that was supposed to hijack this thread?

I plan to see the movie.

I saw it last week, it’s very good. George Clooney has only directed good movies so far. I jsut loved teh high contrast black and white cinematography.

The story was also quite powerful.

I actually know Fred Friendly’s son, Andy I took a course from him when he was a visiting professor.

Might as well hijack it–it wasn’t getting any attention.

It works well with the actual footage of the Senator. And better to use actual footage, so it has a greater semblance of truth.

Billy

Do you have a link to an online recording of it?
