going to whistler blackholm next summer to ride uni....need tips on break attachments

next summer im hoping to ride my uni @ w.b im probably going to do it on a kris holm 19" trials uni cause im only 5’1’’ and i’m 13 although im really exited ineed some tips on how to put a bike v-break on temporarly please give me som input & info

dont use a brake.

you dont need it on a trials uni, and it will add weight. Brakes are also quite expensive, and your frame doesnt even have brake mounts.

I ride really techincal, steep muni on my trials uni(

It’s Blackcomb not Blackholm, you have unicycles on the brain! Not that there’s anything wrong with that of course:)

I really wouldn’t bother, you’re going to have to damage and weaken your trials frame, and on such a low geared uni with a trials tyre you’ll be able to brake with your legs past the point of traction anyway. Fitting a V-brake would require you to have posts welded to the frame, this is possible if you have a local welder but difficult to get the alignment right. Also KH frames are 7004 aluminium and heating them will significantly weaken them unless they are re heat-treated afterwards, which is a complicated process. In short, way too much hassle, especially for only one ride.

so break…bad idea

On a trials uni, basically yes.

If you really get in to muni it might be worth getting a 24", if you pick carefully you’ll find one you’ll fit just fine.

dosnt the quax 20" frame have brakes?

yer it does have mounts, i never really understood why they did that on a 20 inch frame.

you don’t have to weld posts, they have adapters to turn magura mounts into v-brake mounts. but yeah, on a trials you won’t need it. and if you get into muni, you really should get a 24" or 26" and just cut the seat post down.

YEAH .hello new trials frame

True, but he doesn’t have those either.
