I have one foot wheel walking down solid, i can go on and on with it. I can go down a hill really well while doing it. But i still dont get how your supposed to glide, ive tried one footed, one leg on crown, then try to take my leg off and apply pressure, but i just fall off the front or the back, once i got a bout 1 foot, but idk if im doing it wronge, any tips?
you got unispins or crankflips yet? it was only last week you were asking for help on that, don’t take too much on at once or you’ll never learn anything.

well, when I see people do it (I can’t do it myself yet…) it seems like they 1ft ww really fast briefly, then just put their foot on the tire and let it rub to slow down. if they slow down too much, 1ft ww again to pick up speed.
true, i have the unispin 360, but not the crankflip.
I work all day on unicycling since its christmas brake, so i can work on other stuff.
I just got down gliding proficiently last night, find a decent hill to do it on, do one foot wheel walk with one foot planted SOLID on the frame, this is important, you need good grip on the frame with the other foot. Then with the foot you use to push the wheel in one foot wheel walk just lightly drag the foot applying pressure as need to stay up.
I mount right into the glide, so i start with the uni in front of me i have one foot on the pedal and the other foot goes right up to the tire like a one foot wheel walk and the one on the pedal goes right up to the frame.
Make sure your arms are out for balance, i find if you reach forward with them it keeps you from falling off the back. Make sure your back is straight and just go for it! Good luck, I hope I helped. All you can really do is whatever works best for you, I wasn’t given instructions, I just did what felt like worked and I’m sure thats different for everyone.
k thanks, ill try it tomarrow, its raining down here really hard, supprised, but glad it is not snowing. wht do you do to keep you foot from hitting the wheel when you go to far forward.
Part of gliding is touching the wheel with your foot so you don’t fall.
Yeah, when you are gliding one foot should be dragging slightly so that you can control your speed and balance. Coasting on the other hand is when you are riding with neither foot touching the tire or pedals.
k, well when i do 1 ft wheel walking, i dont put my foot on the crown when i do it? Am i supposed to? So im supposed to keep my foot on the crown and try to wheel walk? Then try that with gliding?
oh kk nvm, i get it, misplay on words, wheel walk with one leg, then the other on the crown. kk.
Most people find it easier to put your foot on the frame when gliding (not too sure about 1ft ww). It keeps the pressure all on the frame and not on your foot that is trying to control the speed of the wheel, so therefore it is a lot easier. Thats what I find anyway.
kk, i think that will help a lot, yesterday, i was keeping one foot out, then one foot doing the pressure. so i kept on putting on to much pressure and either falling, or going to a fast wheel walk.
Also, with freestyle, a higher seat will make things like this easier, because you have more leg movement between the wheel/frame, and the seat, and not have to have your leg get crammed up as it would with a lower seat. =p
Everybody else have pretty much told you all you need, just gotta practice it now.
yea i tried wht they said, its still raining here.
But when i just tried one foot wheel walking with it, it was really easy, and without trying i started gliding a foot and stuff, but it is really slippery out side so i prolly wont try untill, if ever it gets dry, it was also wet yesterday but thanks i know ill get it.
Oh does it make any difference if your crown is rounded, it was prolly because it was wet, but my foot kept on sliding off, im getting a Unustar Dx, for christmas and it has a flat really nice crown, i have a pic of it in my profile.
Do you think that will help more?
It seams like it should be easier like tht.
Flat crown will help a lot.
You can put grip tape on a rounded crown and make it better, and some people have even added extensions to their rounded frames to make a little platform for their feet.
Well from your first post the only thing that sounds your doing wrong is simply applying too much pressure to the wheel, the same problmen I had first learning to glide. Its pretty simple man, if you start to fall forward releive some of the downward pressure your putting on the tire, this will start to bring you body back a little bit, along with trying to use your hips for a lil more stability. If you start to fall back too much then simple, put on more pressure. You just have to learn a new sensitivity in your foot as well with a new style of balance, just try one foot wheelwalking down a small hill and try to get each push further and further apart learning to glide for short distances at a time. Ohh and i dont think this will help much but heres a clip of gliding lol.
Anyone have any videos of ppl gliding, or a how to glide in slow motion, or something, might make it a little easier unitill it stops raining here, then drys off.
Well heres a clip from A LOOOONG time ago,

kk, well earlier today, i started going pretty fast just one footwheel walking and started to glide a little, but i think it was prolly me propelling myself than slowing myself down because I was on a flat area
