HOw do you get ON a giraffe uni?
My friend is getting one and I will hopefully be able to ride it
Jump really hard and try not to die.
U just do. I do like a pull up on my gutter. I’ve had mine for a year and its never been hard toget on it.
Search on “giraffe freemount” or giraffe mount, or similar combinations. Lots of detailed descriptions out there…
Look here.
i’ve always been under the impression that for safety reasons, the ideal raffie dismount is off the back of the machine so that u can be sure that the wheel won’t stop suddenly and either break your coccyx or damage your spinal cord
who do we speak to about amending that entry?
ive always been under the impression that teh best way to do it is to make sure theres nothing behind you to stop the wheel and get offf it forwards.
surely if you go backwards there’s a very good chance of landing on your bum and cracking your head open? especilly if the wheel is stopped by something.
I guess they’re all things you have to weigh up before deciding you want to sit on top of a 6-foot long pole with a wheel on the end, but personally I go with forwards.
i don’t quite know how u foresee the danger of landing on your bum
while dropping off the back of the machine, u’re still aiming to land on your feet and u have the unicycle out in front of u where u are much more aware of the area it’s moving into
especially in crowd-word, a person can step in behind u (after u’ve ‘checked’) and get smacked on the shin by a giraffe uni
u r quite correct that it is the kind of thing that should be sorted out b4 climbing on the 6ft pole with the wheel
i have a slight moral dilemma regarding being sensible about unicycling, but that’s a different discussion
my original opinion was pretty much a result of these two threads
Unicycle-related Deaths and the follow-up thread
Giraffe Dismounts (was Unicycle-related Deaths)

Look under the subject of miscellaneous.
have ne of u guys actually been on a giraffe b4?
You can take care of it yourself. I didn’t write it; almost all my giraffe dismounts have been upds, mostly during attempted one-footed riding.
Yes, I have, but only on the two evenings I have gone to the local juggling club.
well, I think it depends. if you fall forwards, and let the wheel roll back, it could hit something and seriously hurt. but what I think the best way is, just to avoid any possibility of injury, is to put the pedals up and down so the wheel won’t move at all, and just fall like a tree, tiiiiiimber!!
Yes I have. I own a 5 foot giraffe. Im getting pretty good on it. One foot, backwards, freemount. I guess thats about it.
Is Emmarentia a form of dementia that people named Emma get? I think my daughter may have it.
she’s not old enough to have it
here’s the whole story
it’s also the home of the Johannesburg Botanic (what? no ‘al?’) Garden
can i suggest that if you do change it you change it so that it doesn’t say the only way to get off is backwards or the only way to get off is forwards? There’s obviousky some debate so I think it’s only fair to let people decide for themselves…
how’s this?
Fine, except that “you” should be spelled out in full on the Unicyclopedia. I took the liberty of correcting that.
perfect.
