Yeah she had her own series which aired in 2000, and I was in the 8th episode. I played a ventriloquist. It was a short lived series…Nikki’s pretty hot I must say! Yes, my regular job is piano technician, but every now and then I get an outside gig. It’s fun.
that’s post-splitting
For those of you equating performance pay to hourly wages you have to realize it doesn’t work that way. When you do a show, there are many “costs” besides stage time:
- props
- hours or years of training
- transportation (time and cost)
- promotion (how they found out about you)
- booking (all the setting up and negotiations)
- in most cases, arriving at least an hour early
If you think about it, you’ll see that the actual performance requires the least amount of time of all those items above, even including the buying and setting-up of props.
The numbers get a little better if you’re able to snag a nice gig, like a cruise ship or a spot at Circus Circus or similar. In other words, longer-term bookings. Then it actually becomes a “job,” for a time, but you still have to plan and prepare for when the contract runs out…
And you need to pay for your own insurance.
