General shop tip - Shims

Greetings all,
I have recently been working on random projects where tubing shims (and clamps)
are used. These things are notorious for slipping, and I have read suggestions in the past for improving the grip. While rooting around in the garage cabinet I came across this. It’s a thin (I measured it at about .01") sanding sheet, very flexible (body of the sheet is silicone), and when you put a strip of it between the shim and the post, it’s solid. The assembly doesn’t want to move at all. Conveniently, the silicone back is naturally kind of tacky, so I put a piece on the inside of each shim half, and it stuck there until the shim was put into place. Pretty convenient!
