Geared hub drawing set

I have posted the four D-size prints of the epicyclic geared hub design as GIF files.

The first one is an assembly drawing.

Hmmm… I wonder why number 4 didn’t show up the first time. Please let me know if you are able to use these as they are.

I presume that the plate, as seen on the right in the first image, attaches to the frame- but it looks like it might also attach directly to the axel. This makes my brain turn into a pretzel. Please help; I’m starting to get a brain cramp.

Christopher

Chris-

The plate attaches to the frame. It is screwed onto a cage that carries the sun gear and the sun gear bearings. The axle goes through the inner race of those bearings. The plate, or frame tab as I call it, is what holds the sun gear stationary with respect to the unicycle frame.

Your MUni ride yesterday sounded like a gas and a half. I have yet to venture into the wild. There are hoards of killer chipmunks and deermice in the rural areas surrounding Seattle.

I face simmilar dangers. They say we have Tit Mice here- I suppose if my vision is sharp, I may see one. I’m not quite sure what to expect, so I’v been conditioning myself stand fast in the face of small mamals.

Is there a standard CAD output format? I’m using Pro/Desktop, and would love to see your gears meching in 3D… humm… guess the pictures will have to suffice…

Christopher

Chris-

These are not 3-D drawings so they can’t be rendered as such.

If you’re looking for a titmouse, expect a small, crested bird about the size of a chickadee.

The photos of the gears on my website show them meshing.

Are you going to be at NUC2002 or UNICON XI to try this cycle out?

Hey, how’s Pro/Desktop going for you? Is it easy to get started? What are
its limitations, if any?

Some common outputs: DXF or AutoCAD for 2D IGES for 3D

THE TIT MOUSE IS A BIRD? I’v been robbed! Here I was, scanning the underbrush, when I should have been searching the skies for Harpies!

I’m saving my pennies for the Con… we’ll see what happens. I should have the time for both. The Pacific North West is home; I would be in danger of never returning to Mississippi.

Pro/Desktop is great! -especialy since it was free! Thanks. The tutorial that is bundled with it is very good. With most tools this powerfull, the number of features can be overwhelming. Since it has the ability to generate 2D cross sections, I’ll be using it to generate templates for the frame mold.

More later,

Christopher
