Couldn’t you just rebuild it with a smaller wheel like 20" or 12" and keep the 36" ungeared?

G12"? Wouldn’t be very effective, geared or not. And a G20" would be similar to a 29", right? Maybe instead rebuild with 24" or 26".

Sure, 12" might be a touch too small, but as we all know, the superior rider prefers a smaller wheel with shorter cranks. As such G16 with 75mm cranks or shorter is surely the best option for those seeking high speeds.

What about a G48 with 45mm cranks?

That would be quite hard to procure as most 45 mm cranks are square taper while all but the earliest Schlumpf models are isis

Sure, but Jakob can drill and cut cranks to any length
Anyway, we should probably stop flooding this topic. I hope this great uni will be sold to someone who will ride it. G36er are so much fun :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

This is a very tempting offer! I have the same hub + brake rotors, extra buttons and syringes sitting in the unopened box that was shipped to me a couple years ago. I’m not up for building a G36er and I don’t know anyone nearby who I can hire to do it for me. If someone made me a decent offer on my brand new hub and components, I would probably purchase your G36er. I don’t ride with handlebars, so I’d need to have the brake reconfigured to go under the seat, but I reckon that’s not a big deal. Where do you live? If I don’t have to drive too far to pick it up, I will have to give it serious consideration.

Oooh…I’m very tempted. I just recently built up my G29 (well, mostly - I still need my P-Frame (ahem @jaco_flans ) and a few other parts to make it my dream ride).

But I still miss my G36. The speed on flats and downhill was thrilling and I loved the high up, king-like feel to it as I looked down on peasant bikers :prince:t3:

What is your selling location?

The ideal G12 would be a chain-driven mini giraffe, à la this guy from Nightmare Before Christmas

Is there even enough space within the rim to put the hub in a 12"?

…Which also means it could gear the 12" up to a 36" equivalent :ogre:

It’s one of those cases where this quote comes into play
