Gazz tire pressures

What’s the ideal air pressure for the Gazz Jr. tire for different riding
situations? At 25 psi I compress about half the tire on hops/drops.

Pretty much the softer the better in my book, until you either fold the
tire or bottom out and run the risk of a pinch flat. So I would say you’re
only using about half your tire if you only ever compress it halfway.
Obviously different riding situations require different pressures–
agressive hopping on sharp rocks you might want 30, whereas hopping on
flat pavement or just riding bumpy trails you may only want
15.

Personal preference rules, of course, but definitely experiment till you
find what you like.

There was already some good advice from Chris Reeder, the master of tire
pressure. I would reinforce that the most important thing is to keep your
rim off the ground. Beyond this, as long as you’re on dirt keep the
pressure low. I assume you are on dirt because the Gazz tires wear out
fast on pavement and dirt is what they’re made for.

The other factor is folding. If you are hopping up slanted surfaces, you
can’t have your tire folding over so if this is happening you might need
to add pressure.

Stay on top,

As has been mentioned low pressure is a good thing… until you pinch
flat. It is possible to pinch flat a 3" Gazz, I’ve done it.

The Muniac has an old post of mine on his site that explains my heuristic
for determining ideal tire pressure. Go to http://www.muniac.com/tips.htm
and click on Tire Pressure. The ideal pressure changes based on trail
conditions and how aggressively you are riding.
