i saw it today.i think Jennifer Love Hewitt must have got breast reduction surgery. what was once a D is now suddenly a B. (sorry but its true, just compare “i know what you did last summer” to this movie"
besides that it was an alright movie.Bill Murry as the voice of Garfield was perfect.
I wrote the below for a listserv we maintain at work for discussing movies.

Garfield is a terrible movie seen at the urging of my daughter. Unlike many children’s movies it offers nothing for adults in the way of clever cultural or retro references. It is fine for children, just bring a book if you do see it. Whether you cringe at the Garfield dance scenes or wonder at love interest Jennifer Love Hewitt’s penchant for wearing the same style exceedingly tight and exceeding short skirt whether she is at work as a veterinarian, on a fancy date, or just out for a Sunday drive, this is a must miss movie. Unless, of course, you’re a kid. 1/2 stars out of 5 for convincing the excellent Alan Cumming to provide the voice of Sir Roland, aka Persnickity, the cat. (Emma would probably give it 3 1/2).
Bill Murray does supply the voice of Garfield. But that no more saves this movie than would Scarlett Johansson save the Bush administration were she The First Lady.
Lorenzo Music was the original voice of Garfield, such as in the show “Garfield and Friends.” However, he died last year. I remember when he died there was a thing about him on the Garfield website.

Edit: Is Garfield’s girlfriend, Arlene, in the movie? Are any of the scenes taken from the comic strips?
Edit (again): Is Nermal in the movie? How about his teddy bear, Pooky?
yeah but they made nermal a siamese cat, which he isnt!
you missed one JJ,remember back in the 80’s when everyones mom had a Garfield suction cup thing in there back window? they made referance to that when in the movie he was in the back of the truck and the driver hit the brakes suddenly.
Unicycleboy needs to get introduced to the 400’ tall, guy-in-a-suit, classic movie monster Godzilla!
My wife went and saw Garfield over the weekend with several of our nephews. I elected to stay home. She thought it was cute but I think I’d like it about as much as JJuggle did…
I’ll give you half on that one. I noted it, but didn’t think of it as either retro or a cultural reference. I thought it was lame and much more recently that people still had Garfield suction-cup thingies on their cars.
I don’t think Jackie Chan’s new movie will be good. I’m usually a big fan of his movies but “Around The World In 80 Dys” didn’t look good in the comercials.
