I have a Nintendo 64 right now and I want to move up to a better system. I’ve narrowed it down to Playstatio 2 or Gamecube. I already know a lot about the PS2 because my friend has one. However, I’ve never actually played a Gamecube before. I know they’re not as good as a PS2 as far as graphics and stuff, but Gamecubes are a lot cheaper and they have a lot of good games that you can’t get on PS2. It has Super Smash Melee, Mario Kart Double dash, and F-Zero to name a few. Not only that, I really like cubes for some reason:) . Anyways, is it a good buy, does anyone have one of these? Please comment:)

It depends what type of games you like to play though.
Why not just go for a used PSP though? Then you can play games on the road too!
get a wii ( if you can find one) then you can play wii games and Gcube games
just so you konw, if you dotn want a wii, get a gamecube, Super Smash Bro Melee is the BEST GAME EVER
Ps2 has a MUCH better selection of games, especially first-person shooters. As far as RPGs go, PS2 has the better selection, but if you’re dying to play Zelda or Mario, you’re outta luck. In general, there are more movie-games made for the PS2. Sports and racing games are fairly evenly matched, I’m pretty sure, but almost all of the classics (Gran Turismo, Madden, ESPN, etc.) are on PS2.
If you’re looking for multiplayer, you’ll have to pay an extra ~$20 for a multiplayer for the PS2, but the Gamecube has 4 controller jacks.
Pros for PS2:
~Much wider selection (basically every single FPS)
~Generally better graphics
~Cheaper games (I’m pretty sure)
~Classics that won’t be on Gamecube: Timesplitters, Half-Life, Gran Turismo, all the big-name sports games, Kingdom Hearts
Pros for Gamecube:
~4 controller jacks
~Classics: Zelda, Mario, Donkey Kong
My friend al ready has a ps2 so I think I’m gonna buy the gamecube. Its totally “cube-ular”. Plus it has all the good games. Have I mentioned that I like cubes?

Sounds like he’s on a budget. We have a gamecube, which we have used exclusively for playing Crazy Taxi. But we’ve kind of played that game out, so it doesn’t really get used anymore. Want to buy a used one? Crazy Taxi included at no charge…

nah sorry not being usefull at all… well i often play gamecube at my mates house and its fun if there is more than one person… otherwise it sucks… PS2… well the only thing i like on PS2 is football games…
and since when are FPS any good on a PS2??? they suck… a PC is NEEDED for FPS games… As for RPG’s monkeyman is probs right…
And there are classics on both consoles… But i would go with john foss’s offer tbh looks pretty good lol. And crazy taxi is great fun 
…I’m not sure what games you’re looking at, but that is definitely not true. PC and xBox are both superior in that genre.
Ps2 reigns supreme in RPGs and a lot of classics (like Alex pointed out), xBox in fighting/FPS games, GC in party games. Although, that’s really not an accurate overview of each system in all cases… they all have good games in each genre, but those guidelines are generally true.
Except that he said he was comparing GC and PS2. Neither of which are PC or Xbox.

you should definatly get an xbox…we just recently got one and it is freakin awesome…alot better then the ps2 and gamecube especially if you get halo 2 with it…that is one of the best games, then again there is super smash bros melee for the gamecube, thats aslo a great game

I would have to consult with the system’s co-owner first (wife), though she hasn’t used it in a very long time. Probably something like $50 plus shipping. I will actually be in San Diego in a few weeks, but getting together might not be worth the time & cost compared to just boxing the thing up and sending it down.
System is in perfect condition with added dust for free. Two controllers, a memory card labeled “1X”, Crazy Taxi game, and extension cords for the controllers.
