I’ve only had two so far after 11 months of unicycling, but I find unicycling dreams really interesting. Here they are… Dream 1 - It started off with me riding around in a shopping centre. It was a really fancy and expensive place and for some reason the owners were perfectly happy with me riding around on the flat stuff but didn’t like me riding down the stairs because they had fancy edges on them that could get damaged. There was a scene change (does anyone else ever get them?) and I was riding around my old primary school. I went down a slope and was able to ride along with one foot on the frame and the other foot braking backwards as you do with kids bikes. The thing is that it didn’t feel like I was doing this. It felt a little bit like the cranks were still spinning around. Dream 2 - I owned a shiny new 29er and I was idling perfectly without losing balance at all.
So what sorts of unicycling dreams do you guys have?
Dream 1: Thinking of a girl next to me riding Shadows and follow the leader on our uni’s. Dream 2: Myself in the mirror checking my reflexes on the uni. Dream 3: My family all riding Giraffe uni’s saying to other people “we’re taller than you”. Dream 4: Riding down Hunter Street Newcastle Naked.

Continued Part 2 David’s dreams.
Dream 5: Riding my Muni downhill through the forest and end up falling in the Mud. :o Dream 6: Riding on my 7.5" Giraffe uni balancing plates. just like Rudy Horn did. (No, I’m not taking that up in future, Just a Dream only) Dream 7: Watching Andrew Carter doing Giant Jumps off a picnic Table. ( That’s only a dream Andrew, when I get the chance one day)
More to come again. I lost the rest. I’ll check back later.
Riding down a slope without pedalling ,executing dlightful courves.
Very ejoyable. I was plesently suprized at doing this somhow aware of performing something not compatible to my skills in the real-dream life.
I recently had a dream that didnt make much sense, I got a new Monty trials unicycle, which i dont understand, and then i started to ride backwards and then start coasting (as in the tire turns but the pedals dont) backwards. I went in some place with a fence that was on the ground. I went around it, fast, and then squeezed my brakes and flew forward. The unicycle was green, and the cranks were like two inches wide.
Ok, I had my first unicycle dream last night. Here it is:
I went into Barnes and Noble because I needed to get my hair cut. But my regular barber wasn’t there, so I had to wait. While I’m waiting this young girl rides through on a unicycle and out the back door. She’s riding a unicycle made completely of cast iron and I just have to try the thing out. So I run after her yelling that I’d like to give it a go and that I ride very well, but she wont stop and seems not to believe me. She does a turn around a courtyard with a fountain before riding off.
I walk away rather dejected until this guy rides up on a unicycle that is basically a pole with a 5" wheel at the bottom, pedals and which forks up into smallish handle bars at the top. The top is slightly above head level. No seat. You just get up on the pedals and start going. Of course, the whole contraption was made of solid brass. I get on to ride and after a couple of attempts where I miss the upper pedal, I finally manage it. Then I wake up.
So there I was, on my old-school 24" schwinn freestyle/street/whatever, coasting along. On the road, over the grass, didn’t matter, just leaned forward to get more momentum.
It was before I could glide, too, so that made it super-weird. (I still can’t coast)
I think it’s interesting that so many people have had dreams involving coasting or gliding. My most memorable unicycling dream is from a couple years ago, around when I first got motivated to learn to glide. In the dream I was gliding around effortlessly, up and down hills. When I woke up, I felt like I could still do it. Turned out I couldn’t.
A few months later when I learned to do it for real it felt remarkably similar to the dream experience. Well, except for the uphill gliding part. I still haven’t figured that one out.
I often have dreams in which I can do things that I am learning to do. Sometimes I will have a dream doing an advanced skill and it will motivate me to go and practice it.
My most recent dreams have all involved riding a unicycle which I could pedal in forwards and in reverse (as all unicycles can). The real kicker was that it could coast as well. It was incredible to be able to go so quickly on the downhills and pick up speed for ramps.
Dream 3 - I was out on a group muni ride and the ground was really wet and slippery. I went down a hill, locked up the wheel and slid (while still upright and balancing) for about 10m. It was fun.
Dream 4 - I was riding in a 12hr mountain bike race with another unicyclist and on one of my laps, I decided to ride right off on the side of the track which was really technical and had some big gaps and so on. I was doing these really big rolling hops over deep gaps and having a great time. It’s a pity that doesn’t work in real life.
Dream 5 - I was riding around at the front of my house and there were some really big, nicely shaped rocks that I was riding on. They were positioned perfectly for gapping and dropping, and it was right in front of my house.
