Take some screen shots of some cool work. It’s fun to play around with if you have some free time. I threw together a basic house (no roof, so you can see the inside of the place).
I just did an overview of the house, and then zoomed in on the kitchen, sink (which took forever to do), dining room (with an awesome glass table), living room, bedroom (complete with bed, dresser, and desk), and bathroom (that one took the longest, had to make the shower, sink, and toilet). Enjoy.
Seamus- Once I finish the Green Pond model I’ll post that.
Yeah, I don’t understand Blender in the least, it’s SO complicated. Google Sketchup is more… blocky and square (hence, buildings are easy to make) then Blender.
But Sketchup is sooo easy and has better features like lots of premade textures and stuff.
I made this building. Not really finished with the details… But I got lazy.
I have it installed (maybe just because I’m a google “fanboy”), but I haven’t used it yet. I learned 3DSMax and Maya in highschool, and I have access to all Autodesk programs, so I’ve never really felt a strong -need- to use something less…well…just less.
While Blender is much more complicated, it’s one of those things that once you learn even the basics, you realize how smooth and well-planned the interface really is. And it’s an amazingly powerful tool, if you know what you’re doing.
I’ve been through a lot of Blender Tutorials, and still don’t completley understand. But I would stretch to say, that Blender is a way better tool than SketchUp. Especially if you make Custom Content for games, Blender is just better for that type of stuff. But, if you just want to mess around and make some pretty awesome creations, SketchUp is definatley your best bet.
