I’ve seen it, but IIRC I received it privately rather than on usenet (I read urc
through news, not the mailing list).
It looks to me like a technique to gather e-mail addresses. If you reply to
it, you confirm your e-mail address and will probably end up with an
increase in spam.
When you see a message like this, the delete key is your friend.

The short answer is yes.
But I didn’t really associate it with posting to the list. I first saw it in
response to a message I posted to an unrelated newsgroup, when I complained
about my recent list outage.
Now that you mention it, though, I did have yet another copy in my inbox after
posting to the list last night.

Yep, i got several of them too. havn’t had any for a few days, but then I havn’t
