A few people in my club got together for some torch juggling, and someone got
a very nicely timed photo I thought I’d share: http://lutkus.org/juggle/phot-
os/fire_2-9-01/jeff_lutkus_uni_under_leg_sml.jpg While juggling 3 torches on
my unicycle, I managed to get in an under-the-leg toss. For some reason, this
is always more impressive then doing the same with a club.
My pants only caught on fire one time that night, and that was not while
executing the above trick.
This reminds me of the only unicycle I can remember seeing on Letterman. A guy
named Ray Wahl (sp?), whom Dave introduced as the Pyrotechnic Madman, rode out
on stage on a unicycle. He was wearing a hat that was on fire and carrying a
rope that was on fire as well. He jumped the burning rope on the uni. After that
he did several other tricks, including juggling flaming torches while sitting on
a folding chair that was also in flames. Throughout the routine different parts
of his suit comically caught fire and he patted them out. The final bit was to
climb into a box that was then blown up.

The name is Ray Wold, and can now be seen doing portions of this act in the
Cirque du Soleil show “O” based in Las Vegas. Unfortunatly when I saw the show
there were no unicycles of any kind to be seen. I believe John Foss and Jay
Gilligan have seen shows where a girl rode across the front of the stage on an
ultimate wheel. Anyhoo, Ray’s act is swell. Best $100 I ever spent on a show.
