Just got an email from Mom. Grandma will be announced on NBC’s The Today Show by weatherman Willard Scott on April 17. He does those Smuckers Jelly spots where they show the centurian’s photo on the jelly jar and give a brief overview of the person.
Grandma’s also on the front page of the local newspaper today in Marion, IL. They used her high school graduation photo.

I would send some mail but i am not very good at it. i tried to mail a slice of ham to a friend and ended up in a little bit of trouble.

Many thanks for all who participated in my grandmother’s birthday card shower. She had a big birthday bash at their church last weekend with many friends and relatives in attendance. This morning, I recorded the announcement of her birthday on the Today Show with Willard Scott. Mary and I and the boys were unable to make Grandma’s big party, but from the pictures, it looks like we missed a wonderful time.
We beat the old record of 246 cards on her 90th birthday. At last count, she received 355 cards from around the world for this birthday. My mother says she spends a great deal of time reading every last word on each card over and over again.
Again, thanks to all. She is well-deserving of the recognition.

my great grandma was very close to 100 when she died. this is the birthday she never had.
