Hey everybody,
I am going to FSU this weekend. Would anybody want to ride?
Red
i may be able to clifftophier.
EDIT: cant-im moving so we’re too busy this weekend. dig that
Speaking of unicycling at/around Florida universities, I hear that UCF has a juggling/unicycling club! UCF has become my #1 choice in the past few months because of cheap in-state tuition, it’s excellent Engineering programs, and it’s great reputation for success, and now I can add “on-campus unicycling club” to the list of pro’s!
Too bad I haven’t rode(ridden? I wonder about this sometimes…) with either of you yet, but I hope to see everyone at NAUCC
Haven’t ridden. “Rode” is the past tense, “have (not) ridden” is the present perfect tense.
I don’t know what the English program is like at FSU, but now you’ve got a leg up. (Unless I’m wrong, I wasn’t an English major and am no expert.)

As a side note, anyone into east coast hardcore may have heard of FSU crew. (In this case the FSU stands for Fuck Shit Up.) One of the kids in it broke my nose at a BANE / Most Precious Blood Show. (If you know the knid of stuff BANE’s music is about, it’s quite sad, and somewhat ironic, also somewhat ironic that it happened at a most precious blood show).
The kid was a semi-pro boxer, and really should not have been punching me in the face.
Thanks for that, Rich. I’m generally the one that points out other people’s grammatical errors and spelling mistakes (though not so much on forums, I’ve given up on that ), so thank you for clarifying this for me.
And, Nick, you’re right, nobody should be punching anybody in the face - or anywhere else for that matter.
Now I’m not sure what Redhead meant by FSU.
Note to people who assume the whole world knows the three letter acronyms for your local institutions. Not only do most of us probably not know them, we might have the same TLA standing for something else in our area.
My mom went to U of M. Hmmm. Where’s that?
I saw that redhead lives in Florida, so I automatically assumed it was Florida State University.
Heck, I go to PU. Take that!
haha that is actually what i first thought of when i read FSU. How did you break your nose? And i cant really stand most precious blood, but i like Bane - holding this moment, half of give blood, a couple songs off it all comes down to this, and 1 song off their new cd. to be honest though, i would expect something like that at a Bane show, they draw a lot of kids and i am not usually surprised if something happens.
fsu is not cool, At all. The name is right. Though some times they go by Friends Stand Unighted but thats not how they are.
BANE is positive hardcore. I think the guys in the band are probably disapointed to know that some people mosh like assholes at their shows. most kids (me) just go to have a good time.
(For those of you not into the hardcore scene, for the vast majority of kids, moshing is not about hurting anyone, its just about dancing and having fun)
Aside from that, it actually happened durring MPB’s set, so really I guess i’m pointing it out for nothing.
Anyways, you’re right, It was at Lupo’s in RI (I think) and it was wicked packed. So I was standing on the edge of the pit and the kid death from aboved me. It’s when you just run to the edge of the pit, jump up int the air, and swing your fist downward on who ever happens to be there. Like I said, this kid was a semi pro boxer, and probably weighed twice as much as I did at the time. he was big.
It hurt a lot, and I had kind of been knocked backwards and fell down a little bit, you know. So I stand up and my face felt wet. I put my hands on my nose and there was bood everywhere.
This was more blood than I had ever seen. I pretty much just walked through the pit, shoving people out of my way, and to the door. By the time a bouncer sees me, the front of my shirt is red. My Pants are streamed with it. Its really bad.
The bouncer got me a towel from the bar, and after that I stood to stage right with all the bands untill the show was over. I went through 3 or 4 towels I think. Afterwards I waited for my friend after the show, and we drove around for 3 or 4 hours looking for an open hospital. I don’t think we made it back to CT until 5:00 AM.
I stil have the pants somewhere, they’re my favorite pants, their all torn up, and still very blood stained, but very awesome.
U of M is the University of Miami.
I’ve applied there, but I’ve not yet received a response.
It’s kind of located in (or at least very close to) the ‘ghetto’, anyway.
Is there any reason why people who do that are not arrested for assault? Cause that’s what it is.
Where else can you go around inflicting bodily harm on people in public without it being assault? Boxing rings aren’t public. I can’t think of any public place where that kind of behavior would not be assault. You can’t go death from above in a crowd during Mardi Gras. You can’t do the same to a group of bums on the street. You can’t do it during a football game (American or European).
I’m not positive, but I believe that’s actually battery, at least in legal terms. I believe assault refers to verbal abuse.
Point well taken, though, I agree!
Rich
U of M your thinking of going there? Im sorry.
I suppose if I had a good lawyer, maybe I could have pressed charges, but…
When you goto a hardcore show, you expect there to be people like that there. Even if you for some reason didn’t expect it, It’s easy to just stay towards the back of the crowd, and not get hurt. I was standing somewhere where there was the (obviously) very real possibility of getting hit or kicked or otherwise “moshed” either intentionaly or unintentionally.
The only kind of similarity I can draw is with hockey fights, I dont think charges ever get pressed there. I know a little while ago some guy got slashed with a high stick and went into a coma, maybe that got some kind of legal action? I don’t remember.
