ya i’m new to the unicycle game, i’m 16 and 6’5 and i want a good freestyle/trail unicycle. I’m riding a “torker” from my local bikeshop and i need a up grade rly bad. I mjust got to the point where i can ride about 1 mile
Hey Beefbully, well if you want something that would make you reach that mile. Maybe a coker or 29er would be a good idea. Depending on how much $$$ you have.
Something like these Commuter unicycles:

But if you want a serious mileage or just want to be unique:

If you want some good freestyles try these:

Oh yes and welcome to unicyclist.com my friend. Have fun and don’t be afraid to ask any questions you may have.
yeah i was looking at the nimbus trail deluxe for some freesyle/trails but i would want to change the rim out cause i’ve heard bad things about the Dx wheels…oh and in my last post i forgot to add…i have to have my hand on a fixed object to get on my uni so i was wondering if there was a easyer way of getting one if there is nothen to put your hand on

I apoligise if its not.
I think what he means is that he can’t free mount yet.
If that is the case Beefbully, you just need to practice a little more. It may seem hard at first, but once you get the hang of it you’ll be surprised at how easy it really is.
Try unicycletips.com for some great info and video tutorials. I think they have a video tutorial for “static mounts” that should help you.
Oh if that’s case. then what csuko is saying is right. Thanks for the heads up good buddy.
Hey Beefbully, I’m 6’5" too, and I thought I should let you know that we can fit on almost every unicycle that is made (except, maybe, the 12" and 16" unicycles). I’m not done growing, and I’m sure you aren’t either, but the 400mm seatpost is what you want regardless of which uni you choose.
Don’t worry about being too tall. The ones who have to worry are those who are too short ;).
BTW, I weigh 180lbs and the Torker LX is my beginner uni of choice. Once I get somw JB Weld, I’m going to fix it up and make it my freestyle uni (I bent one of the cranks after dropping off too many 3ft+ drops)
EDIT: So yeah, the LX is a great beginner unicycle. It lasted me a couple of months (maybe 7) without any problems, but then I got the Nimbus Hoppley. The Hoppley has a Nimbus II frame which was made for freestyle (I believe), so I would reccommend getting the Hoppley + a freestyle tire.
well i just got home from riding a spot that i liked to ride cause it had drops offs and what not…i man’d up and tried the 1ft drop off and broke my frame…i want something thats for freestyle and thats not gonna break…I live in WV, usa…so we have like trails out the but around here that i wanna ride too(i’m a bmx/mountian bike racer)
I rode 6-8 miles today on a 24"
Jeez, what are they feeding you!?
ya idc about riding far i just want something that can take a beating lol can i pretty much live in the mountains and i love trails
you need to get better at riding before you go looking into a new uni
if you have a DX keep it and wait until you BREAK it not just get dissapointed w/ it to get a new onethe DX wheelset is SUPER strong… i doubt you will break it…maybe if you are doing 10 foot drops repeatedly… and the rim is a goody.
if you have an LX … they are pretty good, it is a good unicycle to learn on, and its actually a good uni for freestyle.
if you have a CX and the seat is killing you … which is a huge possiblity… buy a new seat or modify it somehow to be wider and a little softer… that will help a lot…
if you have an AX where the heck did you get it from?
ya i just broek the uni i have this mroning ridind off a 1ft drop lol cracked the frame and bent the wheel evenmore
ya i also have $1000 to spend on one
geeze, with that much money go for the best you can.
Go and buy KH trials and a signiture freestyle uni from Koxx or Miyata. =p
if you want something for trails, drops, jumps, hops, and distance mountain rides, get the Kris Holm 24" 07 freeride unicycle.
whats the url/site for where i can see it?
blahblahblah
blah
the only thing, is that a unicycle like this wouldnt be very good for freestyle.
Hey there.
First, you need to decide what you’re going to do more of to help decide which uni to get (you’ll probably end up with a trials and freestyle sooner or later anyway).
If you’re going to be doing trials, big drops, etc. then I suggest you go for:
This one this one, or possibly this one
Although if you’re going to get a KH, I’d wait for them to have the 20" in stock.
If you’re going to do freestyle (keeping in mind I know very little about freestyle)
Or the nimbus 2
Or a miyata ( no link here)
Hope that helps.
Edit: fixed the links
