I made this with the manual submission system with a new domain summer
last year.
Google has maybe 90% of the 300 pages in 8 weeks.
Altavista has now 5 pages indexed and knows 22 links (Google nearly 400)
to this page.
From 672 visitors this year

no one from Altavista
Alexa states:

I can not imagine, that Altavista will survive this. I think You should be
about Altavista submissions as concerend as about Infoseek submissions

sure, just go to av.com and click on the submit your site link at the
bottom of the page. then go to basic submission. you have to do that
letter verify thingie and then you can add up to 5 URLs for free. Not
that big of a hassle…I don’t care if it brings me 1 visitor, it’s
worth it
