I learnt to ride a 2 wheeled unicycle yesterday. Just wondering what the
best way to freemount it is?

OK I know it wasn’t funny but I really wanted to be the first one to reply
with such an obvious answer.

Congrats on learning to ride one! Most people give up way too quickly to ever get anywhere on one.
The easiest way to mount is to do a side mount. Just like on a regular uni, you’ll put your one foot on the pedal and then step up and swing your foot around the front of the uni. Just keep in mind that when your foot hits the other pedal that you should just keep moving that foot back and start to ride forward out of it.
I prefer to do the running mount to get on the 2 wheeler because it’s a faster way to get back on than the side mount, but it is a little harder to do. Since I fall a lot when on it, I need to be able to get back on quickly. This mount works the same way as on a regular giraffe except your pedal is up (instead of down) when you step on it to catapult yourself onto the uni.

I ride one once a year, when I go to conventions where people have them.
So don’t treat me like an expert…
I put one pedal at the bottom, and simply step up on it. When you get
upright, make sure you are leaning or otherwise off balance a little to
the front, so you can put your other foot on the top pedal from the front
and start pedaling backward.
If the pedal is too high (possibly on a 24"), put your opposite foot
between the two tires (from the rear) and repeat the above.
That’s the boring way to mount. A running mount looks much cooler. If you
really want to blow us unicyclists away, learn to do a running mount
backwards, and land gliding!
