forum problems (history gets lost)

The forums here occasionally lose track of what threads I have or have not read, and of what message in a thread I last read (viewed). I can find no particular pattern to this behavior. I really like these features of the forum, so it is rather irritating when they do not function correctly - the forums misbehave for me probably 2 or more times a week.

Suggestions?

One idea I had is to log out when not browing the forum, but …
Is there a way to log out?

Meaning the “Go to first unread post” link is not even present on a thread’s page.

Is it that you’ve been logged out? I sometimes find myself seeing threads it says I’ve read but I haven’t, until I notice that I’m not logged in any more.

Dunno why; I have all the cookies enabled and whatnot. I put it down to Just One Of Those Things, and click on the “user cp” button to log in…

Sometimes when you sit on a thread it seems to mark everything as read.

If you click on “Unicyclist Community Forums” above and go to the main index you can log in and log off at the bottom right of the page.

If you are browsing as a “guest” while logged off you can also mark all forums read by clicking the link in the log on area.

Clear as mud?

I’ve seen that too. When I do notice and log in, all my history information is (at least sometimes) gone.
