Is anyone on here a forestry major in college or graduated? I am considering switching to it from Mechanical Engineering, and I was just wondering what you thought of it, and what kind of job you have.

Interesting. I always wanted to be a forest ranger but was able to talk to some early on. From what they said, it’s not all that it’s cracked up to be. Then again, I suppose anyone could say that about their current job in some way.
I was told that it’s a low paying job and that after a short number of years, you end up at a desk pushing paper.
So I went into Mechanical Engineering instead.

Forestry seems to be a shrinking industry. Not an industry that you’d want to be jumping into. The forest service around here is cutting back. I don’t know what the situation is at companies like Weyerhaeuser.
Lol, cutting back. Sorry, yeah stick with mech eng, im am undergrad student at Oxford, career prospects in engineering are very good at the moment.
