I started this thread because i’m feeling sorry for myself because its Easter on sunday and i can’t eat a chocolate egg because i’m allergic to Dairy Products
When i was little i was allergic to cows milk and then for a while i was ok then it started again then went away for a long time and now its come back again, back to the soya milk oh well least weetabix and soya milk is nice…
how do you get on with plain chocolate? The better qualtity dark stuff is rather fine, some of my non dairy eater friends will happily tuck into jaffa cakes etc, because its plain choc, not milk. other wise I guess its jelly eggs only this easter
Sorry to hear about the dairy allergy. I have a shrimp/lobster allergy myself. Lucky for me, there aren’t many shrimp or lobster flavored Easter candies.
My suggestion is to go up to your parents on Sunday and (with the best puppy dog eyes you can muster) ask: “Since I can’t have any chocolate, can I have a new unicycle?”
I’m fortunate enough to not be allergic to any foods as far as I know, but I appear to be allergic to many other things… hayfever, dust, the vast majority of animals (hairs, I think, are the problem), the list goes on.
They do tend to come and go; a few years ago I couldn’t be in a house with a cat for more than half an hour before having streaming eyes and nose, but now I’m living with one without any ill effects.
Are food allergies like this, or are they of the ilk that stick around for longer?
Phil
PS: Rob, that avatar of yours is fantastic! Excellent stuff!
I just found out recently that soy is not a good thing for people with thyroid problems. It really aggravates the condition. There is starting to be a backlash against soy products. It turns out that it’s not everything that it’s cracked up to be. Just food for thought.
Actually the reason people are lactose intolerant is because there intestines (particulary the large one) can’t break down stuff like that as good. That’s where the term “Cutting the cheese” comes from. As for allergies I don’t have food allergies. But I’am allergic to like something out side. My doctor knows what it is. But when I go out side and get near alot of plants I get all runny nosed and all.
hahaa sorry i don’t know if this is supposed to be funny or not but i think its great, just imaging people ask in restraunts if its vege or vegan and then you’re there saying ‘does it contain dandilions?’
Yeah, I’m just joking. I mean, I /am/ allergic to weeds/pollen, but I don’t generally eat them anyway. They just fly through the air and make my nose stuffily and my eyes all poofy.
