Flordia folks

I’ll be on my way in 3 weeks.

I’m going to be desperately poor, sleeping out of my car, living off canned soup and peanut butter sandwiches.

This usually isn’t important, but it’s obvious I’m not going to be visiting Miami in this kind of situation. So, where can a poor man go to have some fun? College towns? I’m not into the whole tourist bit, seeing all the notable things, just looking for a good time.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Tallahassee or gainesville are fun college towns.

Thank-ew. Some fun things to do? I know in college type towns there is no shortage of drink, party, or good fun…

May sound odd, but I hear the ladies over by Pensacola really are quite friendly toward navy follows, does this carry across the entire state or just that particular area?

I don’t mind poor, but I do mind desperate.

Got a PayPal account or somesuch?

I’d love to chuck a few bones your way…

Your so kind jason, but being poor and desperate is actually not too bad.

Then you might not qualify for desperate.

Well, I see it as this.

Since I smoke, I will never accept money from anybody. Except a fellow smoker, even then it’s rare.

I’m going to be ‘poor’, but I’m going to have smokes, and so in my mind, it is wrong to accept money from people when your wasting it yourself.

I’ll be poor, not necessarily out of necessity, but somewhat choice, and for me the trade off is worth it. Instead of motels and cheap food, I’ll sleep in the back-seat of my car and eat soup out of the can and peanut butter sandwiches and smoke. Smoking doesn’t use that much money, but you get my point.

So I guess, true to most, I’m not really that poor or desperate, it’s more of a choice. So, can’t take money from anybody. Not even Christmas.

Aye, smoked my last pack!

In light of recent events it looks like I’ll actually be moving there until my ship-date, so need to save every penny. Too cold up here anyways, ready for a change.

We refer to north as “north”

There is Florida, and then there is the Keys, where the ocean protects us from cold. Most winters never get below 50 F on the coldest night.

Key West rivals NY or SF for expensive hotel rooms. However, slightly up the road there is lots of empty land, easy to camp on for free. Although illegal, camping in the Keys is common and not a serious offence. Much of the land north of Key West is owned by the Feds, much more private wilderness than you may have heard of. I can show you many places you may camp. None legal, but camping on the sly is an honored tradition here.

Feel the light, that would be great. I may just come down that way, is there work there? Something I could just pick up for my month, month and a half stint?

Camping sounds much better than sleeping out of my car, and isn’t as frowned upon. All my friends and family are calling me crazy for talking about moving with little more than gas money to be a vagrant wine-head beach bum until my ship-date.

The camping part is easy. I am unsure about finding a job, so I don’t want to say anything about that. On the bright side, the slowest time of year is over after xmas and the best part of tourist season starts and runs through spring break. So if they are hiring, now is the time.

I tried to show you some places on google earth, but the URL just directs back to the north american map. Check with me if you do come down and I could mark a bunch of places for you to camp. Some in your car, others in a tent, even by the ocean.

this seems like a bad idea.

how can you afford wine when your limited amount of cash goes to gas!?!?
