Fixie video -1901

Following on from my road cycling video, I bring you my fixed gear video. Took the bike which I restored and wrote about on here, for a short ride to the park and around the park.

First part of the video is on the toptube of the bike, so don’t think its all the same thing!

Tips on editing would be appreciated (for use in sony vegas) as I couldn’t work out how to do the last clip correctly.

Your “fixie” appears to have the ability to coast. Doesn’t that make it a singlespeed? Also, I didn’t know they had color video in 1901. You must have been on the bleeding edge!

My favorite shot was of the clouds at the end. Not that the rest wasn’t well-filmed. For the frame-mounted shots, try mounting the camera a bit higher, so we can see where you’re going.

I think he has a coaster brake, like a child’s bicycle.

Though I think your assessment, that it’s not a fixie, is right.

Wrong! The bike is definitely a fixie. If you can look closer I’m actually locking my legs and leaning over the bars, thus taking weight off the rear wheel allowing it to skid easily.

On 2:02 you stop the pedals, yet the wheels keep turning.

Yes you’re leaning forward, but the pedals stop.

Edit:
Oh, I see (2:25) you actually block the rear wheel, but it doesn’t have the grip to stop the cycle.

Oh. So then you’re not living in the spirit of a fixie. Guess I can’t blame you. Except on the trails, where the general rule is “Ride it, don’t slide it”. That’s to prevent unnecessary erosion.

how is the fixi going?
